For me, I look for a heavier quality biothane bridle that feels a bit more like leather. I look for smooth edges (look at the where the padding ends on the crown on the first harness below vs...
That looks better.
Pony is looking good, but you need to do a bit more adjusting on the harness.
The breeching is very loose and you may want to bring the breastcollar up a hole also. Don't want to be high enough...
one trick for brass polishing is to wrap the leather/ beta beneath with saran type wrap to keep the polish off it
q-tips are your friends for inside the leather foldover on buckles
best of luck...
treed vs non-treed saddles
I have a beautiful NON treed saddle for my round backed draftX
but if you look at the underneath of this saddle you would not guess it is non treed - it has a clear...
You do not want the saddle up on the withers
Imagine a riding saddle in that position - would not be good for the horse
same thing with the driving saddle
you may need for her a LONGER girth to...
Overall the harness just looks a bit too large for the horse. It looks like you have many of the straps buckled up pretty far and it's just off fitting.
The breeching seems to be the right...
nice mothers day present
looks like a fun day was had by all - including Firefly
Im so glad for you that everything worked out with your surgery and you are recovering your life again
great video and a great start for what looks like a very nice pony
keep on keeping on and enjoy it!
Hooray for you and Firefly
Congrats on your first show and what a great result - you all had fun (except for the horse bath part )
We started out with the standard
Tigger and Stripe
Moved on to
Ivy-pie and Jess-a-minit
For a barn name I was going to suggest Arthur from the Once and Future King
but I looked it up and it's Wart so I guess that won't work.
You could use Dragon from Uther Pendragon
we have made the decision that we wont look at kittens as they are easier to adopt
our newest boys are 3 and 7
the 7yo spent time on the streets and then a couple YEARSin the shelter - don't know...
we use a weight distributing hitch
it is a bit different than the one you show but the principle is the same
I would not be happy AT ALL with the hitch ball tilted like that
looks to me like...
WoW good for you and the boyz
if you cant touch the hot oil it is too hot and will COOK the leather
what we like is to wash the leather first with warm water containing a large squirt of dish detergent and a handful of baking...
serious question here
If you use the feed thru like Solitude
does that negate or kill off the fly predators?? Since the Solitude kills the flies and will be in the manure pile that you put the...
OK... so is that a gaited horse? Paso?
I'm from NJ and can tell you, while the law is helpful in some areas, not in all.
First they also created signs to be posted re the 25 mph near horses and stop if signaled by the rider. However,...
OK - bad knees, bad hips
I cannot get into most of the front entry - wooden wheel - 2wheel carts
the step is just too high and makes it precarious for me
I have had the Marathon Cart...
I realize it isn't always easy to find a navigator, but it is well worth the effort to find a 'team member' rather than a warm body to hold the green card.
A good navigator helps balance the cart,...
for the carriage driving list (CD-L)
Need help? Go here:
you have to sign up and it could take up to a day to complete
good place to post...
Don't expect the show organizers to provide you with a navigator
they have enough to do and are looking for themselves for volunteers
and it "could' add to the shows liability if they provide...
We did not have THIS cart - but we did put this type wheels onto a Frontier type EZ entry cart
at that point you depend entirely on the wimpy coil spring "suspension" to take up the jolts of the...
So sorry to hear of your loss. Sending hugs and strong positive energy to support you going forward.
