Professionalism is often sorely lacking amongst farriers. I'm sure if people got past "never shows up on time" and "can't work without a cooler full of beer", they would get to "he's a da*n slob"...

I paid $2000 for my old stallion, he was running in $2500 claimers and was about to ship to Penn to do $2k claimers, so that was his price. A bargain.
That was about 20 years ago, so I guess...

I would be hesitant to get attached to a prospect when it might get hurt before it retires.

I would love to go to hunter shows for mileage, but on the local circuit a) it is almost impossible to find a class over 2'9" and b) if you can, it will be 10pm before it runs. So we go do the...

Yeah, it caught my eye because my 6yo stallion, Seattle Jones, who is running Training, has Mr P and Seattle Slew....!

I just thought this was interesting..... River dance, Lellie Ward's last Rolex horse..... I did not realize he was a Mr P/Seattle Slew!

Bute if it is pain, dormosEdan gel if pain/stupidity, Stableizer if just misbehaving.

I took a boarded horse along to the local vet clinic to get a coggins pulled--he was due, and I happened to be taking one of my horses for rads. so I threw him and a couple others who were due on...

My 11yo Irish mare had some lipping in both hocks at 5..... Glad that Hal passed, as she has never taken a lame step and taken 3 people training!

Since it was longer on the inside he was probably landing inside first then rolling over to the lower outside, hence the convex appearance.
If he's toe dragging it could be stifle, hock,...

Interesting, kind of 'old' pedigree!

IIRC Denny may have expressed a sentiment along the lines of having no interest in exposing a valuable stallion to the bloodbath that UL eventing had become (around the time xc became flat-out...

The inside of the hoof is concave, outside is convex, judging by the shot from behind. So possibly the rings are from the pressure of the hoof 'collapsing' inward due to overall imbalance.... Or,...

Depends on the horse.
My stallion, who was five when he got off the track, went to his first combined test three weeks after his last race and did well. I think he went to his first BN a month...

The Storm Cat gdtr is actually ridiculously quiet and sensible, today (ride 2) I cantered her both ways of the arena and could see why she was such a lousy racer. More pix coming soon...

The colt is a bit heavy in the neck (yes, he is intact) but is very nicely put together and extremely sensible, smart, nice mover. He's fairly uphill and light on his feet. He's a real pussycat,...

An Irish Draught is not really a Draft per se, even though it is pronounced the same. It is really a heavy warmblood. So you're not talking about taking a Percheron/TBx around xc, more like a...

Learn something new every day. It has been very rainy here in NC this winter and I have noticed a couple of the retirees had rainrot under their blankets, which I blanketed them to prevent!! I ought...

I thought the whole website was a sim page or something, did they let a pre-adolescent child design it?
