Where'd the OP go?
Amos the Spambot posts better than some texting teenagers.
Central Colorado. Snowing and 7 degrees Farenheit.
Redalter, i heart you. I think employers should offer whatever level of health insurance their local market allows that will attract quality employees. And if the health insurance policy does not...
When my dressage horse tore his DDFT, the vet prescribed stall rest, which was later changed to "rest" in a short pen off a stall. His "stall rest" lasted almost a year, followed by walking on...
What slp2 said.
When I was bringing my horse back from a DDFT tear, when we started back under saddle, it was to walk ONLY for the first 6 weeks or so, then adding trot 5 minutes at a time for a...
My guy travels in his hock boots, quick wraps and the net sheet for long trips. I usually throw the sheet on him while I'm grooming & prepping. I think it helps.
Thanks for the alert -- I snagged...
Gosh, he's cute!
Fingers still crossed for a good outcome.
Amazing post, MoonWitch!
How different and tragic your lives would have been if your mother had taken the 'advice" to institutionalize you and your siblings. Love and proper therapies can overcome...
BWAHAHAHAHA! Good one, betonbill!
Sounds like she's found a way to take pressure off her hammies and other sore parts. Yes to the vet exam. Could be simply age-related stiffness/soreness, but if you can find a way to help her, do it....
Yeah. What's up with that? Inquiring minds want to know!
^Dittos to this suggestion.
What a ghastly outcome. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family always.
thanks, high hat, for the rundown on costs.
All I can say is Yikes! A wonderful once-in-a-lifetime experience, but too rich for my pocketbook. Asphalt stalls, no less. What were they thinking?
Yes, that's a good sign!
Good for you, OP! I still have my Neidersuss/Hippostar, even though my gelding outgrew it two years ago. Great saddle.
Not to be a Debbie Downer, but "new to you" saddles will place pressure...
We have several nice saddle shops that offer consignment saddles. My favorites are Happy Horse in Ft. Collins, Once Upon a Horse in Franktown and All That Tack in Parker.
There may be other good...
For curiosity's sake, what did it cost for those of you who showed at the nationals? Fees, travel, hotel, the works?
There are no identifying stamps in the leather anywhere, perhaps designating tree width, seat size, country of manufacture?
I was told not to ride for 6 weeks after my surgery (Lifestyle Lift). My coach used my gelding for a lesson horse and put a few rides on him herself to help keep him going. Actually, it was fun...
Minis are Minis and Shetland ponies are Shetland ponies. Not the same critters.
Two more votes for Neidersuss Symphony and Passier GG or and old Passier PSL (hope I got that right...) if you can find one. Great saddle, out of "fashion", but wears like iron and good balance.
Good on you! I agree that cross-training and lots of exposure to different things is great for young horses!
For the record, I showed dressage for years in tan breeches and a dark coat.
Lendon Grey has long been a hero of mine for what she accomplished with her "little" horses. Condolences on this loss.
Ahh, this hearkens back to the "White Trash Dressage" threads!
