First, the dog has to understand what 'come'. If all he knows sis "Here boy, come, come Fluffy, Fluffy come! Come Fluffy! Over here! Come Fluffy!", then you have to start over and teach the command...

Shock collar. People can do all the training and positive reinforcement they want, but freedom is a HUGE reward. Some dogs needs more incentive to come than just treats. Avoiding a shock is a BIG...

If I'm expecting bucking/bolting/spooking I prefer my dressage saddle. The long leg position and deeper seat help me stay centered (and stay on!)

I'd say it's a mix of how well the saddle fits...

Try phrasing it a different way. Sometime something as simple as 'toes up' or 'keep your leg long' will make it stick better than endless repetition of 'heels down'.

Wouldn't that be incredibly dangerous? Cross country jumps need to have a stable base, not be teetering on blocks. One good smack and the jump would tip over under the horse as it was jumped.

To be fair, the baristas aren't profiting off that $5 coffee. I usually throw my change in the tip jar if I pay with cash.

Did she break her halter coming of the trailer, or just not have one to begin with?

I like the idea of a visual indicator, but I think a flag (even a small one) hanging on the judges booth would get more eliminations than missing the bell

Forgot to add, I really do like her clinics and plan on going to a clinic with her this spring with my new 4 year old. You just have to know what your sitting on and decide if her approach is right...

I've a couple clinics with her and audited others. I think she's great for building confidence and 'get-it-done' for both horse and rider, but only with a smart, not easily rattled, quick on their...

Or you can just go slower your first move up event and deal with some time penalties.

A few at my barn go in that set up (at least temporarily). It started in a clinic when a 4* eventer ( can't remember who) suggested it for one student, and it worked very well. The standing is...

I hope conservative includes black/navy. I do NOT look good in white AKA see through AKA slobber stained. I think a black polo with tan/white breeches looks very conservative.

Eh.. Pretty is as pretty does. I'll take effective with happy horses over pretty. Honestly, I find pretty has a lot to do with rider conformation rather than skill or effectiveness.

He's also really old. I'm sure he was much 'prettier' when he was 20. At this point, I'm sure he relies more on skill and balance rather than strength, which will make anyone a less 'pretty' rider.

Depends on what the horse is and what it's doing. Much like the rare purebred toy puppies go for $$$$ at our local shelter, the rescue might be using high adoption fees on the nicer horses to offset...

I've only showed dark bays, and they both went in black. Not sure what the new bright chestnut with lots of white will wear, probably black if my trainer doesn't kill me.

I've only done up to 1st, but I don't think I've ever practiced a test. My (eventing) barn has the small sized dressage ring set up for maybe 2 months of the year, and I've only gone in it a couple...

I don't care what they're responding to. If it's an emergency, they can put their lights and sirens on. Otherwise, they can and should follow the same laws as everyone else.
