girl I know...we are exhausted from three straight weeks of caring for 102 head of animals in almost disaster conditions....but finally the ice melted and the roads cleared and the trees were moved...

no it should not...every cutting and really every field has a raking hay height and I have heard people say that they need to "get closer to the ground" raking with second cutting hay as it is so...
also I would not bother to fluff hay unless you just wanted to...a horse can snap my neck in half with just his teeth...compressed hay should be nothing for him :)

a compressed bale of hay is a 3x3x8 or 3x4x8 or 4x4x8 bale of hay that is cut numerous times and put under hydraulic pressure such that the rectangle becomes something more like a rubix...

yes and no...RFV is not an average score but rather the score assigned to the alfalfa plant once it attains "full bloom" status...ie having the little purple flowers visible...
isn't that awesome! two old friends of mine raised up Tapit and I am so happy for all their connections to the baby!
I would only add that the low sugar, low starch hay is a good idea ONLY if the RFV of the hay is 90-100...otherwise the low quality of the hay actually interferes with all other digestions acting...
it makes a mess but I just use straight Vaseline over the scabs...no rain bothers it should they be turned out and the hair comes back up underneath. after a few days the scabs themselves are soft...
the only way to buy hay fairly...by the ton :) glad to see you happy and doing new stuff....it will keep you young...oh wait...are you even 21 yet ? :)
