Wonderful older mare suitable for light riding. She has hunted, pony clubbed and shown. She is presently being ridden by an 11 yr old and takes great care of him. She is a pretty, white TB/App...

Yep, I stick with local shows which are $10 and under a class, with sometimes a $5-10 office/grounds fee. I'm too old and overworked to care much about the competition - who I beat or who beats me. ...

I have 2 that can graze and one that it Little Miss Fatso and stays in a dry lot all but about 3-4 hours a day. Even my grazing is a little weedy, but I worry more about founder and colic than about...

Miss Molly!!!
I just paid $120 total for a barefoot pony, a horse in steel fronts, and a horse in steel fronts with pads.

A few points....
Consignors who sell unsound horses that don't make it to the races, don't stay in business very long. Most of them strive to develp long term relationships with trainers and...

Why does a not so very accomplished 12 YEAR OLD RIDER have to notify her trainer when she goes to a show? I keep seeing people talk about levels of commitment and respect, but I...

What CHS said.
Just because a trainer instructs a student in a riding lesson one hour a week does not mean the trainer has any right whatsoever to control anything else the student does outside...

I'm going with Colonel John. He looked fabulous in the paddock, and I think the way the Santa Anita ran will set him up perfectly for the Derby.

Seriously, it did work 100% of the time. Within a day, or 2 at most. They had 50 horses in training and I worked there for 3 years.

One trainer I worked for gave any horse that tied up the following once a day, with 100% cure rate -

If you just want your horse to have a good experience, and you've given him something illegal, you should go unjudged.

I'm not sure how you concluded that my suggesting to try jumpers with a horse that is not calm enough for the hunters means that I think show jumping is a clean sport. I don't think that the...
-
Maybe the horse should be scored on the jump only, and instead of judging the horse in between the jumps, the judge would only penalize the horse for a mistake between jumps such as wrong lead,...

I agree that turnout helps, but land is very very pricey, and unless you have 3+ acres per horse, you just cannot leave them turned out all the time. Unless, of course, you don't mind having acreage...

I was going to suggest jumpers!!! The cure for the sport is jumpers. No one will have to buy a $$$$$$$$$$$$$ warmblood, and we can all have a blast going fast and not knocking down poles. The...

I did all of the above for a while, had great fun but not much money in the bank. Now I am married to someone who does all of the above. I work for an insurance company, have a few riding horses in...

If you signed a boarding contract, read it carefully. You may have agreed that you inspected the facility, or facility is being offered "as is." Also, is the facility licensed? When was the...

Thread title is "notice to trainers," not "notice to managers."

Before I saved enough money to buy my own place, I boarded my show horse at a show barn. I was hacking my horse one day, and the barn manager got on her own horse to ride. Her horse was off behind,...

These over controlling trainers may be turning out winners, but they are not turning out horsemen. And they are hurting their business by keeping their clients totally dependent on them for...

Have you checked his teeth and mouth? I usually go with less bit/gadgetry when I have a horse that is high headed or does not want to hold the bit. Sometimes TBs have a low palate and the break in...

I am haying my fields, about 10 pounds per horse per day. At night in the stalls, the TB gets another 4-6 lbs of hay. They all get some soaked beet pulp and Triple Crown Low Starch. the Low Starch...

Did anyone see that cute stallion Indigo at the MD horse Expo? He looked to me like he could jump.

I only have 3 to do, and it's much easier to do them daily since they would be a seriously mucky mess the next day if I skipped them.
