Scar tissue on the check ligament can do this. I have a former Amish buggy horse that was a slaughter rescue who has this issue.

I am closed on Mondays, but only to lessons. Boarders are still allowed to come in and interact with their horses and stalls are still cleaned and horses turned out.

Hay and forages are broken down in the hindgut over a period of several hours, not the stomach which processes food for only a few minutes. You should be OK.
Concentrates (grains) are broken...
