    Too bad!

Bummer! I have been wondering lately, it there anyone keeping track of how this recession is impacting the horsey economy, with specific data?
And no end in sight. I sure don't foresee a time when...

    Half way through it....

I am a little more than half way through it. I was born in 1964, and started riding when I was 10. This book only confirms my feeling that I was born 10-20 years too late, ha.
    I esp. loved reading...

This is only recent history. Back in the late 80's, a great video came out, called "Every Time, Every Ride", with every day riders talking about the importance of helmet safety, and how many falls...

    Not amused.

If this is supposed to be some sort of Halloween joke, it's NOT funny.
  6. Maybe check in with Auventura Two on the endurance forum?

Good luck, your property sounds wonderful.
I seem to remember that Auventura Two, who often posts on the endurance/ trail riding forum, lives in Wisconsin, but not sure where.
    Maybe she knows of...

Isn't there an old thread on this.....

I never saw the film, but remember reading about it, I think, before it was released.
Isn't it loosely based on a true story, that was then probably taken by Hollywood and ( sounds like )turned to...

If it weren't for Sally Swift and Centered Riding....

I probably would have given up by now. I had been riding for more that 10 years before I discovered Centered Riding. I feel like Centered Riding "saved" me, in a way.

    I think the biggest thing...

    Sally Swift.....

Just got an e-mail tonight from my local Centered Riding instructor, stating that Sally Swift passed away. Can't find any more info on-line tonight. Very sad.
Wow, what a legacy she has left us. She...

    Have a clear vision.....

I have lived in many different parts of the country, and by now have been a part of a number of riding programs. I think that the best thing that you can do to start out is to sit down and create a...

    Good to know....

Yes, I can't believe how much the cost of a new Crosby is. From what I have read, the used Hunterdons are much sought after.

I recently got a used, beautiful Stalker Naffey (pre-Harry Dabbs),...

    That name sounds familiar.....

Does anyone know, was he ever in charge of one of the traveling Lippizan shows? I distinctly remember that name on the program at a show I attended in Syracuse, NY, WAY back when, proabably close to...

    Just another thought.....

Without pictures or a video it is impossible to know for sure what is happening. I do know that I went to watch a schooling show today, and a few of the kids (teenagers) were riding in saddles that...

    I vote for....

Beval Devon 2000. Wide tree that seemed to fit most horses. Spacious flat seat. Perfectly balanced. Found it on e-bay a few years ago, for a great price. Didn't know much about them at the time. Went...

    Just a thought....

Why not try a used Devon? I found one on E-bay about 5 years ago, that had been lovingly cared for, and was SO comfy and had a perfect balance point. I think it was about 5 years old, so was nicely...

Maybe you mean most dressage horses trained...

Maybe you mean most dressage horses trained beyond a certain level?
  18. Too funny!

I have just now scrolled down and read all of the responses so far, and didn't see anyone ask what to me is the obvious question....

Is your mom's arab a grey or white horse? If so, then maybe...
  19. Aha!.......

Here's a clue.... going back to the history of horse training.....

I just checked out the website for the International Museum of the Horse at the Kentucky Horse Park.......
  20. Yes....

But back more than 35 years ago (at least where I lived, in Central NYS), you would sometimes see horses advertised as "trained to High School".... meaning that they were trained beyond the basics...
  21. Just a couple thoughts more.....

I think this is a problem when hunters and jumpers get linked together in the same group.
Hunters ARE different than jumpers, training differs and usually, esp. after a certain point, there isn't a...
  22. OK this is going way back.....

and maybe I should post this as another thread. But way back in the mid 80's, Practical Horseman featured a series of articles called "Stabilize to Optimize". The trainer was Ronnie Baird (sp). I am...
  23. Sorry to maybe get off subject....

    Excuse me....

But have you ever been to a George clinic, or one with Anne Kursinski? You'd see "engines engaged"...... and no talk about headset.
Maybe if those hunter trainers you are talking...
  24. Digging out my copy right now....

from page 7, chapter 1, The Eveolution of the American Jumping Style....

"The French invented classical riding. Their genius, coupled with the greatest sense of style and beauty in the world,...
  25. Cheers to you Leena!

I have been so inspired reading your posts. You are amazing.

    Best wishes from Kansas.
