Regardless of the rest of the attributes or non-attributes of the mare, you need to improve on the pasterns for any hope of being sound for a career in jumping.
NCSU Equine center is fabulous.
As I said, I'm sure there are many out there that can breathe, I've just come across an inordinate number of them that cannot.
All those I've come across were *lovely* to work with--very...
Had they had surgery?
I've come across ten, and I believe 8 had breathing issues--some surgically "fixed", others hadn't been.
ETA: obviously they don't all have breathing problems, but there...
Every Medaglia D'oro I've come across is lovely and nice, but can't breathe.
Not entirely accurate--while it might happen some places, I've never seen a horse touched by a State vet.
And not every track has a pre-race veterinary inspection.
This is a perfect example of where racing is a sh*tshow. How did this horse get to the post-parade, being very clearly lame. Oh, right! Not every track has a pre-race veterinary check! Ugh.
they do? Where? Which tracks?
I'm so glad you saved him--even if he's not fixable, putting him down would be far kinder than going to Canada.
He does look neurologic, and the fact that he fell down at the auction is not...
I have a friend in Bridle Creek and it is the most populated community--at least as far as year-long people. Some people dig that, some people don't.
Badger, here on COTH, lives there.
I would disagree that he breeds heavier than himself. He's got quite a bit of bone himself, and none of the horses i've seen are super heavy.
This is one of the prettier ones i've seen, out of a TB...
I've seen many lovely F1 horses, nearly all of them out of TB mares. They are athletic, appear to be pretty easy horses and amateur friendly, but man oh man, they can have some unfortunate heads :P...
This strikes me as funny--of course he says nice things about him, he owns him. :)
They lie. Pinestraw rakes are a liiiiiieeeeeee I tell you!! Pine Straw is the bane of my existence and I've tried everything except for the lawn vacuums. Raking by hand or blowing with a monster...
No way! Bill is AWESOME! He put up with my complete incompetence quite well :)
Speaking of, I have to write up a fabulous bill long story :)
I just got a Mill Creek ground driven spreader and LOVE IT. Easy to hook up, holds my five stalls just fine (though needs to be emptied daily) and spreads well. Ideally I would be composting first,...
Many many many people--do you want to have a lesson in ground work, or actually go driving? Or both?
Or you can call Bartville and get one for half the cost :)
Couldn't pry mine from my cold, dead hands! Three back surgeries really, really hate cranking a trailer up manually.
Could a 5 year old horse going Beginner Novice be considered a packer?
what a good boy!
That first XC course is AWESOME! I need that at my house.
(and I totally saw my little horse in the background at the ditch, heehee)
A big, good moving horse that could pack an amateur? 25K on up.
Sporthorse Nation and the Event Horse for sale pages on Facebook are quite effective.
Ok, I never in a million years would have predicted he could recover so well with the injury he had. WELL DONE! He looks really lovely!
FYI, there is a Facebook group that centers around Event Horse Breeding--https://www.facebook.com/groups/518767391545875/
Lots of good info and dissection of pedigrees :)
