I am mind boggled by the numerous generalizations on this thread of WBs being hard to ride, too sensitive, etc.

The post above is the reality that I have experienced as a breeder who has sold...

Because real breeders still will have breeding horses in their blood and will until they die. I continue to live vicariously through other's foals. Some of us retired breeders might even still be...

Ditto Siegi, Mystic Oak and DY. I am out of it because of Siegi's list, without exception. I have one mare breeding in Germany and because of what Alexandria has described, I think that I should give...

Ranch Adobe, not recent. I used in-utero insurance it in 2005. In hindsight, I should have gambled and saved my $$$.

As far as foal insurance, I think it is still possible to find it...
  6. I had a client who was able to get foal insurance...

I had a client who was able to get foal insurance from 3 days of age, but I do not remember the company she used. That will be much simpler than in-utero insurance.

Very few offer in-utero insurance for anything except TBs. Cunningham and Cunningham in NY does. It is VERY expensive.

Honestly, the diagnosis just does not seem at all likely. I would have her seen by a vet that is very, very familiar with young horses, their growth and especially with LOTS of experience in reading...

dressagecat, there is a legitimate well regarded farm that uses the "grey farm" spelling, as opposed to the farm in California that has become very poorly regarded that using the spelling "gray fox."...

They really WANT the horses to move this way??? To me they look almost lame. The heads in the dirt look ridiculous. These big men on these poor little things hurts my eyes, especially with the...

Not sounding very credible. It is true that he could be fertile for a while after gelding, but in order to be useful that testosterone won't be in his muscles.

I am so very, very sorry for your loss. You did everything possible to save your little one. Sometimes nothing is enough. They are so very fragile. Sending my best thoughts on this sad day.

Your description of her behavior when you are around and not giving her 100% attention sounds just like my orphan filly soon after she came home from ICU and while she was still getting multiple meds...

Does she have equine companions? If she does, I would not do more than the usual teaching to lead, stand for farrier and vet, hop onto a trailer once in a while, things of that sort. I would never do...

I used a nursemare service one time. In hindsight, I realize that I was 1) shellshocked and not thinking clearly from losing a wonderful mare 20 hours after she gave birth, 2) more than a little...

A COP verifies bloodlines, which could be important to a buyer. Most registries include COP horses in their awards programs. Because the COP comes with the USEF lifetime registration, it sound like a...

I believe that GOV and RPSI papers are issued directly from Germany. I am very curious to hear details of how the Verband news will actually effect us as breeders.

Blume, RPSI is not Rhinelander referred to by the Hanoverian Verband news.

    Also, AHS has full reciprocity.

The Landkoenigs I have seen had great minds, rather nice gaits (even for dressage), were taller than their dams I am not sure that they had...

Ditto Sunnyday and ahf. When a mare already has a track record always pick the brain of the former owner and anyone who might have known her and what she produced. It will be invaluable.

You know, I never second guessed days a week or minutes a session. Properly starting a young horse is a process. It will vary according to its character, maturity, quirks. My own trainer always...
