    Maybe the rider could work with the horse for awhile without showing, and once s/he feels more comfortable with the horse, s/he could either try the horse in a snaffle, or start showing at 3rd level...

    Dover has some cord girths, but maybe not cord dressage girths... I think theirs are white, and I would probably go with black if I were you (a little more discreet ;))
