So glad to play a wee Enabling part in your saddle pad hoard. I have a bay too (Clyde-X) and it'll be perfecto on her too! ;)
Twasn't meant to be training, but rather an Accommodation made in light of the mare's issues.
My post was meant as a suggestion to the OP to speak with her farrier about the possibility of her...

Also... gloves. I don't know why but I must have another pair of...
Right there with you Sascha.... my Clyde-X lives out 24/7, yet with the flax, etc. (via Equipride), she shines!!!

And let's not forget: www.thereifixedit.com ;)
Forgot to get a new cell phone holder for the bigger smart phone... tucked that baby in between "the girls." ;)
I can't help it. I cannot go a day without reading the day's submissions. Some make me gag, others make me go HEAD * DESK and others make say "Dear Lord don't let me be like that!"
Ah, so sorry. Fixed! :D

Been there/done that last October with my Percheron who found a stray board with a nail sticking up.
Kinda wondering why the vet didn't leave you with a big bag of fluids with a wee bit of...
Duetts work very well for the wide body, flat-backed horse. They do not work for the scoopy backed horse. Ask me how I know!
I adore my Duett Rondo for my Percheron... Miss Table-Top Back...
I like what you've been doing to work with them. Keep in mind, however, perhaps your farrier is taller and, therefore, having to hold that hoof much higher between his knees means the horse feels...
Whew!!!! How utterly "classy" of her, tho, to pull the crying wee one card. Sheesh
If it truly is a Farrier/Shoeing Issue Only, then there's often an association with pain somewhere in the body.
When I trim a new client, I ask: are there any issues with your horse standing...
Yup, make your own mowl... works like a charm!
I can get anything down my Percheron if it's in a Banana, even with the peel still on. ;)
My propane tank shaped mare (she of the short back too), moves like a dream in my County Perfection. I didn't ride for a year because nothing fit her.... everything bridged or pinched those big...
While I don't shoe, I do trim and lemme tell ya: yankers are MURDER on my rotator cuff!
However, one smack should be enough... gets their attention that the behavior is unacceptable and gets...

That's the liquid you can get in any store. The gel version, in a tub, is no longer made. :/
Bless you for this tip.
I bought the last jar of Murphy's gel off E-bay and am hoarding it.
I like getting my hands in it as I mix the perfect combination:
Soaked alfalfa cubes
Soaked beet pulp
Rice bran powder
I dump and mix thoroughly.... cuz if I don't,...
