Interesting. Vet thinks what she's getting now is fine. I could switch to the Ultium growth instead of the performance if I wanted. Suggested feeding calf manna for extra protein the last 30...
Thanks. Sounds like I could stop the mare plus after switching to a balancer.
Makes sense about the sweet feed.
Let me make sure I understand... ;) I can just feed the ration balancer, good hay (I just found a source for brome so hopefully that's taken care of!) and...
While I'm waiting for the vet to call me back, I'm looking at two "feeds" from Progressive. One is the Ration Balancer called "ProAdvantage Grass Formula Diet Balancer" and the other is "Premium...
Thanks guys. Great information here! Appreciate the sharing :)
I've got a message into my other vet to discuss feeding options. I do know the last 3 months you're suppose to increase protein,...
I don't think she has any. Have never seen them. ;)
Im really surprised my repro vet was "ok" with her weight. She gets about a cup or so of purina ultium 2x daily and MarePlus supplement. Our pasture grass lasted well into November this year and...
Dimples everywhere. https://flic.kr/p/q6Mwsw
I can get alfalfa here pretty easily. I've never fed it before and she's never had it. I don't think free choice would be good for this girl, she's a hoover!
So here's another question, she's...
I'm looking for alternatives to feed to her the last 3 months. I'm in the midwest where everyone feeds either grass hay or grass/alfalfa mix. Not sure if Timothy or Orchard are available out...
Judas poop didnt work for ours either. What has helped is piling the bedding in the middle only. The right side of stall still gets completely stripped but left side is now much cleaner.
I offer that for $500. In my experience you will have a much harder time finding that in a larger boarding barn and should look at smaller private facilities.
Btw - I had an AA hunter in 90s named Just My Luck :)
Apparently the messy one has done this at other barns so probably no hope for him.
The next messy boy is new to me and used to live outside so I'm praying he'll improve.
Ive been bedding...
Ugh. Seriously these pig pens are driving me nuts. One especially, generally poops/pees in same half of stall but then stands and walks it in circles. Im pretty much stripping it daily :(
Off. Recently pet sitting for a friend and found her horse attached to a feed bucket one morning. Person who fed the night before left halters on.
I haven't read the previous responses but my bet is that they all read something like this:
Some days I get sick of cleaning stalls and when it's freezing outside I may rather sleep in or stay on...
I normally wear a tall and these are a decent height on me. Id say they run tall.
Well this never happens! I actually prefer the cheaper boot!
The MH active rider is bulkier than the Bromont, but much taller and more comfy :)
The regular calf Bromont seems tight. Id never...
And by "meatballs", I mean this:
Our opening is this weekend. Braiding is strongly preferred I think. A friend told me "hunter" braids aren't necessary and meatballs will be fine. ; ) Thank god because I cant braid.
Thanks all. The MH active seems to fit me well. Ive got the brossard on order to compare the two.
I think I got this one year too! It was HUGE and barely even resembled a horse!
Ariat Bromont vs. Mountain Horse Active Winter Rider?
The MH Active seems comfy but not sure about the materials. It's not leather but probably looks fine from a distance. ;)
He definitely said double dose, all at once.
I'm waiting for someone to tell me, just call your vet back, idiot ;)
