Ha, btdt. Get online and google barn reclamation, developers, etc. Most of them will relieve you of the barn for cleaning up the site afterwards, and that's about it, unfortunately. That was my...

How about the pigtail connectors? Or a simple knot. Not elegant, but it works.

Your costs are likely to be at least as high as local ps costs, because of all the customization required. Houzz is a great place to get local pricing.

    Depends on the size rather.

Even a smaller pond attracts large amounts of birds and other wild-life, which keep down the bugs considerably. This cannot be overstated, frankly.

Or one of those plastic tubs for beer n ice? Party tubs, I think they're called.

That's what I have for our cat, and it works well. Better than a sand-tray, actually, as the sides are higher.

Yup! I'm pretty sure the ever-helpful local farmers already think I'm a wimpy fusspot for not wanting to turn the horses out 24/7 on the concrete and let them munch hay through the cattle...

Thanks for all the thoughtful responses!

Yes, even aged sober horses frolic, and yes, they'd be loose on the yard as-is, and yes, falling down on concrete, winter or summer, is never good (and...
  18. Concrete farmyard - ideas on making it safe for horses?

We've bought a farm which was not a horse farm.

We plan to turn the smaller large barn (40' x 70' or so) into a barn for the horses - one end with open stalls and closed tack room, the other as a...

I don't think I'd trust a battery fan, or anything else mechanical for that matter, when leaving my dog in my car if I wasn't going to be in the very immediate vicinity on anything other than cool...

Did you do the thundershirt up REALLY tightly? Apparently that helps. Also try using it on non thunderous occasions, and make much of your dog when you do.

  25. Suitable "life ring" for trough swimming critters?

I just had to fish a very drownded squirrel out of the water trough :( Fortunately it can't have been there long, unfortunately I didn't hear it (do they bleat? Cry? Gasped, probably), but I still...
