I don't find any horse "ugly."
When I rescued my mare, she was skinny, gawky and covered with scrapes. Two years later, folks at shows were commenting on her great beauty and asking where I got...
I lost my mare in 2008 and still think about her every day.
The pain has lessened over the years, but it still ebbs and flows. On certain days, such as her birthday and the anniversary of her...
I am so sorry. Many of us have felt that same pain. <3
Thank you all so much. At least I have plenty of notice. Hopefully we will find the right place or perhaps even be able to stay. <3
I found out last night that the farm where I've been rough boarding for almost 10 years is being put on the market this fall.
I am very sad for many reasons. First, I love the place (and so do my...
I'm not sure why, but I just don't get the same feeling from Nyquist that I did/still do from Pharoah. Don't get me wrong - I like him and wish him the best - but Pharoah gave me tears and goosebumps...
My beloved TB mare died at 31 from a lipoma, also in early November (in 2008). My vet said they develop for no real reason, and sadly there is no way to prevent them.
I agree, but I'm glad! That way, those of us who adore and appreciate him don't have to wade through all the ridiculous comments when an article is posted about him on social media. :D
I love this horse so much. I cannot wait to see his babies!
Excellent post. I still miss Shared Belief.
I have thought about this myself and agree with many of the points here.
The thing that boggles my mind about some of his diehard fans (not all) is their failure to see reality and the...
Absolutely. Great description - he had the look of eagles.
Sorry to hijack the thread.
It's just a matter of opinion, as with anything - some people like apples, others prefer oranges. I thought Barbaro was drop dead gorgeous. I loved his build, color, face...and I personally do not...
I never got the FOB madness, but to me Barbaro was a lot more impressive than Chrome, both in looks and performance on the track.
I'm just so happy they do not like the Pharoah. :D
Jim is a class act and a great ambassador for the sport.
I am heartbroken.
We only saw the surface of what he could do.
RIP, beautiful champion
I just made a shadow box with a few of my late mare's things...it took me seven years, but I finally did it on her anniversary a couple of weeks ago.
I too had a lovely pastel drawing done, which...
And not to early to jingle for me. I love the Christmas season - the longer, the better. Spread good will and cheer! :)
I can wait for the snow, however. We had enough last year!
Thanks for the responses!
In years past, I have done several things, including:
- Planted a cherry tree
- Donated an engraved granite bench to the vet's office
- Had a pastel portrait done of...
I lost my "heart horse" in 2008 at age 32 after 23 years together. The seventh anniversary of her passing is this coming Sunday, and I am feeling rather sad. Each anniversary, I try to do something...
I am a huge Tonalist fan, but also a fan of AP. Pharoah is simply in a class by himself. It is an honor to have watched him run!
The night after my beloved mare, Chutney, died at age 32, she appeared to me in a dream while I was falling asleep. She was with an Arab-looking grey mare with distinctive markings that I'd never...
Pharoah is just an incredible animal.
He looked like he could have won a pleasure class afterward. Just a calm, cool customer.
He exudes class. We're so lucky to be able to watch him.
