fwiw, my vet - who does repro work as a large part of his practice - did check the semen - and the result is listed on my mares repro chart :)

loss of use insurance? i don't think that is available to average lower cost horses.... the premium that you would pay would end up paying for the horse in a few short years plus the insurance...

when i was in ontario, canada about 10 years ago they RCMP had a yearly sale of their breeding stock - mostly HAN i believe.

i think you need to narrow down what type of trainer you want to ride with - we have folks from all stripes and all talents..... there are some very very good trainers around and some that suck.

fwiw, if the "witch hunters" are the ones that I was PMd about - i dont' know that they had anything to do with the place this trainer worked at (Santa Rosa Equestrian - nor were /are they are part...

This is a lovely mare, very elastic mover with a super...

i am going to slightly disagree with PP and Beasmom. I have a very hot/energetic and forward horse. lunging her before i ride is what allows her to focus, burn some energy, get the kinks out and be...

i would not release as he comes too low.... this will *reward* him for doing so and also set into motion a very bad habit - ie randomly releasing the contact :)
if this were me, if i was trying...

to get the pony from curling you can do upwards transitions - they must come up for that. if you are walking as for a canter trans.
you can also do 1/4 turns..... so if you are cantering you...

I said i thought clayton was political....
as for my link - the point being - there are a LOT of folks studying the bio-mechanics of riding. not just clayton.

again, nowhere did i use the word "abuse".
i dont care who told you it was ok to give three TAPS with the whip if the horse slows down. it isnt correct and the horse has nothing to link the TAPS...

you know.... i am going to get vilified for saying this... but why are people who have served their time for their crime still being made to "pay"?
i mean we dont ask murderers, or kidnappers...

Not sure why you would use just one siderein. the horse cant use one to connect with.... and i would argue this would be more dangerous than with two as the horse has an out and cant be kept in the...
-
lunging in side reins for seat work is an old standby and is not any more dangerous than any other kind of riding. just be sure the handler knows what they are doing.
-
horses don't think like that. they need immediate and clear direction and you need to directly link aid/whip/spur - so you never use the whip without an underlying aid. otherwise - how do you...
-
huh? the only post i edited was edited before you posted. check the time stamps.
i think you read more into what i wrote than what i wrote. :)
-
who said anything about abuse?
(apologies to the OP for the side track)
-
i said nothing about increasing the leg aid - in fact i said the SAME leg aid with the addition of one whip. see above post for more info.
-
i disagree. strongly. you give an aid, if no response you give the SAME aid, and escalate by using the whip ONCE. if you don't get a response to *that* then you use the SAME aid and escalate the...
-
why would you tap 3 times with teh whip when the horse ignored your leg? wouldn't it be more correct to reapply the leg and tap once at the same time and give the horse a chance to respond to that...
