I have used neck sweats with great results and makes me feel better not using the harsh cribbing straps. It really works.
Sounds like Erlichia, had two friends horses come down with it and it stumped the vets. It can present with or without a fever. Treated with Doxy IV.
I've had very good luck using a neck sweat, it's a lot more humane and it works.

Have them check for erlichia, had a two friends horses have it, they thought it was EPM too. Is treated with Doxy, and the symptoms mimic EPM.
Please check out Thrivefeed.com, read the testimonials especially. One of them had a similar problem.
