I have the waxed brown Bromonts and just love them! I get so many comments on them out hunting. Can't rave about them enough. And I love the suede on the inside leg. :)
We have 2 doctors, 2 ED nurses, and a paramedic who hunt with us - so a fall out hunting is probably the safest fall you can have! One of the ED nurses always has a first aid kit with her on the...
I would think it's worth trying a running gag too.
Nobody here takes a blind bit of notice of bridles on the hunt field! I guess anything with even a bit of "bling"catches my eye, but nobody else would care in the slightest.
Sparky Boy - those plaits (braids) are the stock standard style of plaiting manes here in New Zealand. Anything else is considered "different". =)
A plaited (braided) horse on the hunt field is a rarity here!
My partner is huntsman here, and once hunting starts, our horses only get ridden twice a week - on hunt days. So long as they are fit to start with, that is easily enough to keep them that way. :)
Whilst hunting in Australia the (female) master and I both "needed to go" and since not much was happening with hounds at that moment, we moved aside into a bit of brush and down-trousered. Whilst...
In Ireland, many female Masters wear blue coats instead of scarlet. :)
Here shaped saddle blankets are almost unheard of in the hunt field. Most hunts have their own saddle blankets which you can buy, and they are all square, with a large pocket and the hunt logo on it.
All very well for you lot! Our hunters' shoes have just been pulled off and they and our hounds are on holiday til November. I'll have to do my summer hunting through you. :)
Wow Rockbridge - that's stooping low. A poor attempt at retaliation. Thankfully you've been caught out.
Thanks for the "heads up" polydor ... try this :)
A glimpse of where we hunted today. Still feeling very much like summer with 24 - 26C degrees. ...
I had to laugh at my partners reply to someone who asked him what he does during the off-season (he's a huntsman, and Irish ;) ). Without a moment's hesitation he said "oh I'll just take the...
It's bluestone (copper sulphate). Hardens pads and disinfects to a certain degree. Mainly done for hardening pads.
3 hours, unless hounds are hunting at the 3 pm mark in which case we'll see the hunt through.
$450 per year, landowners are $10 per year. 40 hunts carded each season.
A friend of ours hunts a pack in Virginia and he's almost beside himself with no hunting! Hard to sympathize with him though, having never ridden in snow in my life. In fact I've only ever been to...
Not sure of the exact reason he was struck off, but I know that in the past I've had odd pm's from that guy. Couldn't help wondering if he had maybe been bothering others as well. In which case, no...
We've just been discussing this on a horsey fb group today, and I have a built-in storage cupboard in the nose of my float which works really well. Fits 2 saddles, 4 hooks for bridles etc, and also...
The group has really taken off - I'm really enjoying it :)
Unless you're hunting here in New Zealand in 30 degrees celsius ;) Bailey's does not do well under those conditions - I know from experience.
I was out with our hounds bareback in 26 celsius yesterday - same again today :)
He is a friend of ours and we had this conversation about martingales when he stayed here with us this year. He said he much prefers a well-fitted standing.
