I always stack on pallets. 99% of the time the entire bottom layer is moldy and worthless by the time I get to it. Makes me sad but I just assume this layer is for sacrifice. This is also straight...
We have been cutting our own hay 3 years now. Every year its a struggle for one reason or another. I keep telling the husband that I'll happily buy hay but he insists we do it ourselves.
Update on cow #3. Tasted good! Did a roast last night and it was great.
Checked with husband again and yes it's about a year and then they go are sold to the feedlot to be fed fed out. He...
I have no idea. I'll check with the husband again. Maybe he misspoke or I misheard.
Found out two things:
The first (tastier) cow was a female. The second (less tasty) cow was a boy. Both were under a year old.
Picked up the third year cow today. Its a female. Haven't...
Same processor each time and we always get the cow processed this time of year so should both have the same feeding.
I bought one if the hunt themed skirts :)
Hope I get it before winter!
His are on pasture and then hay and corn in winter.
$500 does sound expensive. Im about to have a fence installed. Using the DogWatch brand as its $1k cheaper than Invisible Fence brand.
Cannot wait. :)
I have 2 JRTs. One is 4 and sticks...
Not sure how to describe it. Store meat tastes way better than this IMO.
We're about to get our 3rd cow, same farmer. Can't wait to taste this one.
Good to hear they can taste so...
I can't even describe it. :( Its just not right.
This farmer takes very good care of his cows. Very good. Ill have to ask the husband how these two were different. He'll probably know. He...
Long shot but maybe someone here has some idea.
We get our beef from a local farmer. Cow goes to a locker and it's packaged up for you. The first year it tasted great. This year it tastes...
My facility is only 20 acres. Nowhere to hide either one ;)
So how would this work if I plan a gradual wean? Should I do the gradual separation before the dates and then fully wean (own stall and own pasture w/buddy full-time) on the dates you provided?
Ive used it twice in one year. Aug 2014 and again Aug 2015. I think it helped my mare. I actially wish I'd done it again in the spring as she was sore again in July. Recent xrays also showed no...
Thanks!!! Do you know why they are different?
You sound like a really nice guy. She sounds a little demanding, maybe self-centered, and probably delusional in her riding aspirations. Lots of great and honest responses here but MY husband would...
Found it ;)
Where can I find the weaning dates for October/November 2015?
Thanks. I hope that is the case here.
So.... The quite pony is taking a beating. My almost 5 month old filly and mom want nothing to do with him but last night I watched the filly run up to him, give him a double-barrel kick to the...
Which do you prefer?
I always ride before chores and stalls. Chores can still be done when you're tired, riding not so much.
Do you have to clip baby ears? I wasn't planning on doing that for our inspection next month. My thinking was for bug protection in turnout.
