I'd look at some of the other Stubben models and look into having the flap cut down. Stubben is also pretty great about building an entirely customized saddle if Stubben's fit the horse and you want...

I'm 5'5" and 28yo. I have a 14.3h Arab. I am a ballsy, get on anything rider, but at the end of the day, I love the pony size. I'm not afraid of bigger horses, but there are a lot of advantages to...

Which model Stubben are you using? They make everything from a really flat model to a heavily blocked model. Mine is VERY flat and barely there, however a friend of mine has one of the newer Tristans...

I just always scrub with a vinegar and baking soda paste with some sort of brush on a stick. I generally find the brush on a stick in the auto care type aisles.

I'm also in the Snugpax crowd. I have one of the pommel bags. It attaches to the front D's and then there's a loop that goes around the front billet. I can w/t/c with it fully loaded and it...

Why not just ride with a mild snaffle without contact? I initially just trail rode my Arab (and still do sometimes) with the same snaffle we do arena work or foxhunt in...

Try the TuffRider ribbed breeches. They come in a low rise and a not low rise option. I don't like super low breeches, but the 'low' ones to me are more like a mid rise. They sit just below my belly...

See the sponge on a leash depends on time of year. My first one was in October and it was chilly out! I still don't actually own a sponge on a leash.
I've also never given electrolytes. Carrots...

Hey, my 14.3h Arab wears a 32cm (wide) tree Stubben. My friends 16.3h TB/Clydesdale mare wears a 29cm (med/narrow) tree! She feels wider to sit on, but for saddle fit is not!
Glad you found one...

I'd also look at her (or any horse you get right now) from a resale standpoint. You may not WANT to sell her, but things may change and you may need to. Sane and reliable will always be saleable...

Oh yes. Wide track stirrups. I have the Composite Wide Track ones. I foxhunt in them also. I love them.
-
I ride in my foxhunting saddle - a Stubben Roxane. I find it comforable and it fits my Arab. I just use a regular leather girth with elastic on one side. We foxhunt in a traditional flat leather hunt...

I love my Stubben Roxane. I foxhunt and flat in it. I trail ride in it and do endurance rides. I have a dressage saddle, but don't love it nearly as much as the Roxane.

I would not do a trial.
And you're also assuming you like both situations equally. One may be a better fit for the pony than the other. I'd have them both try him out and see who the better fit...

Stubben Siegfrieds in the 29cm tree fit TBs well in my experience. I have a Roxane for my Arab and it doesn't fit them at all. It's too wide and it doesn't seem like even a narrower one would be the...

My house consists of my 3yo intact male miniature poodle, my boyfriend's two spayed standard (8yo) and miniature (4yo) poodles and our roommate's 14yo intact female lab (just 'never got around to'...

You just do. You put one foot in front of the other and you CANNOY compare the next one to the last one. It's not fair. The next one will NEVER be the last one. You can, however wind up with a...

My Arab couldn't canter without becoming a flailing, terrifying mess of legs going every which way until he was over 5. It was so bad I just didn't do it. Then one day, he was just magically able to...

I also use Endomondo. I put it on even in the arena to see how far we've gone and whatnot even when I'm schooling dressage or jumping.

Several pieces of advice:
If you must move out - get a house or apartment with several roommates. This will generally be the cheapest way to live. If you are going to school, most schools have a...

I'll put in another vote for the Roxane. I have one and its my favorite saddle EVER.

Oh lets see:
Wotan - 31cm tree fits my ancient Argentine Thoroughbred mare. She's got a decent wither on her (though not sharkfin). Its probably a 16.5" seat, though I've never measured. This...

I would also line the fenceline with a strip of gravel/lyme/something drastically different than grass a few feet out so the horse knows where to stop.
I've known several blind horses that do just...

I'm not sure if Stubbens would fit the horse, but they're typically pretty inexpensive used. My old Aramis was about $300 on eBay. It has a fairly flat seat with a narrow twist.

I like my Ropers. They're just a slip on shoe. I also use a pair of Ariat Probaby boots as 'barn shoes'. They pull on and off easily (I can just step into them and walk off and then take them off by...
