Desirable footing for a Saddlebred show is not the same as desirable footing for a hunter/jumper show, just as running a hunter/jumper show on footing designed for reiners would not be ideal.
Just...

I would say it is a tall tale. You can ask to take the gate any time you want, you don't need a reason.

A Toyota Tundra and 2 large horses? The towing capacity for a Tundra is 4500 pounds with the V6 engine, 6600 with the V8. You probably have close to 3000 pounds of horses. A 2 horse trailer can weigh...

Incorrect. Lost shoes are usually caused by poor footing. At some facilities you will rarely see a lost shoe, and at others they can unfortunately be common. Nobody wants to lose a shoe in a class,...

No, absolutely not. You are only allowed one time out of any kind. So if you use your time out on a lost shoe and you have a piece of tack break you have to take the gate. You would never risk that.

I would't call 15.1 hands and big bodied, needing horse sized bridles, to be typical of older style Arabs.

The current incarnation of the My Little Pony series (which is the 4th) is from Lauren Faust, who also known for The Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. Her shows are always...

Just for comparison, $350k should get you a Saddlebred or Hackney Pony that is young, sound, free from vices and should win at Louisville (our World's Championships) if you know how to ride/drive it!...

I know many Saddlebreds and Hackney Ponies that have shown into their mid twenties. But add 20 more years, no. And the link to the newspaper article one of the other posters gave has a comment...

45 years old and still being trail ridden by an adult? No photos of the horse when it was younger? Sorry but I'm skeptical. I'm sure it's a lovely horse no matter what it's she is.

Windows hands down. You'll still have light when they are closed, screens on them will keep them from being another place for bugs to enter, and of course they will be able to provide ventilation.

Performance classes are supposed to do an animated walk. The rulebook definition of an animated walk:
Also Devon, while steeped in history and a wonderful place to show, is only a regional level...
-
Also in Roadster classes (both with Hackney Ponies and Standardbred horses), Hackney Horse, Hackney Pony and Harness Pony classes you do not walk at all, it is not a required gait.
Roadsters enter...

The walk is a judged gait. In all classes with the word "pleasure" in the class name the horse must flat walk. In the performance classes (the classes without pleasure in the name, Five-Gaited,...

The only one I have seen is this, "Sometimes we take ourselves too seriously. Horse shows should be about having fun, and riding in this class sure was fun!" McLain Ward

Here is a video that has slow motion clips of the great five-gaited Saddlebred mare Easter Parade doing her gaits http://youtu.be/Raq6auyU7pY The video is from the 1940s.
And here is video of some...

Griffyn that is all correct. Nearly all Saddlebreds have the ability to do the two "extra" gaits (the slow gait and rack). The ones that are trained to be five-gaited have the conformation and mental...

I believe they got one practice ride in before the actual class.
All of the hunter/jumper riders were mounted on top end, World's Championship quality five-gaited Saddlebreds. Those weren't no...

Tonight they are holding the Five-Gaited Special class. It's an invitational class in which several top hunter/jumper riders will be showing Five-Gaited American Saddlebreds. Participants include...

Just a reminder: never hook a horse that is not bridled. Personally I am from the school that does not tie or cross tie a horse while hooking, but I know people do. But hooking a horse who is not...

I ask as a customer has purchased one and we are bringing it to a show next week! When turning them out for a show do you do any clipping/trimming on them? A tiny bridlepath? Or do you leave them...

What can you tell me about them if you have personal experience with them? This is coming from a Saddlebred/Hackney Pony/Arabian person who has had various other dealings with Dutch Harness Horses,...

I don't think it is any crueler to shoot a horse with a 12 gauge slug than an elk or moose. Certainly can kill a large animal dead when shot in a good place.
