    Oh yes, more than one!

Sadly, there are several of these trainers if you judge by this board! That's what's scary. I think the horse world attracts a certain kind of personality that can get away with a lot of this...

I have been in your shoes and it is really, really hard. I can especially relate to the part about the personal issues. Been there, done that.

However, as difficult as it was to leave said...

    I agree!

Wendy is very nice and low key, and knows her stuff. :) I'm hoping to get to some of her clinics next year. Feel free to PM me if you like since we are in the same area.

    Flappers!

I used these for about a year on my mare. She had crushed heels from a bad round of bar shoes and intermittent lameness issues that blocked to her feet. These shoes worked worked very well for her...

    Agree with This

I agree with this. Also, you are NOT going to be happy commuting from Whittier to the Sun Valley/Lakeview Terrace/Tujunga area during the week. I board in Lakeview Terrace and live at least 20 miles...

I can definitely relate to aspects of your story and have learned after 12 years that you can change some behaviors, but the essential personality of the the horse never really goes away.

    Luckily...

Thanks for the replies. I think I agitated this issue when moving hay and feed about a month ago. Before that I would just feel a painful twinge once in a while, but would stretch and feel fine...

That's too bad about Locks of Love. :( I guess I'll go through Pantene if I do this again.
  9. Pain in hip (or psoas muscle?) - what the heck?

So, for the past few years I've felt the occasional twinge of pain when stepping into the horse trailer, or up a big step, in my left hip. Nothing major and it didn't bother me all the time, just...
  10. Locks of Love...

    Hi 5,

I grew out my hair a couple of years ago and donated it through Locks of Love. They do request 10 inches of hair, so you may need to grow it a little bit longer before donating it to them....

I just started a horse related blog. It is a little daunting putting myself out there, which is why I don't post much on this BB anymore, but I do want an outlet to write down my horse musings and...
  12. Ditto!

Ditto this! However, I am learning quite a bit about snakes in this thread, so thank you for that. The pictures are both interesting and disturbing to me, haha.
  13. I could have written this!

I could have written this same exact post! Scary! Like you, it took me 10 years to get out of dodge, so to speak. Looking back I feel like such an @ss, but I'm also confident that my ex trainer will,...

Oh, I know it is all inconsiderate owners - I was just anthropomorphizing a bit regarding the dogs and their lack of "etiquette." ;) I still stand by my statement that dogs are a "bit" gross, though....

^Yeah, not everyone has this, though. You shouldn't have to protect all of your stuff from roving dogs. If I bring my dogs they are either on a leash at my side or they are confined to my horse's...

    Dogs are Gross

Ugh...what can I say, dogs are gross and have terrible bathroom etiquette. (I have two myself, and I still think this, so not a dog hater.)

That said, even good dog owners who keep their dogs on...

I have worked with TROTT as a volunteer and they are a great organization. They really strive to find quality horses that they can adopt out successfully. What I like most...
  21. Huh...

    Two things -

1 - Seeing that this was a local show, I'm wondering if the theory of a "gentlemen's agreement" between CA and USEF is true? I've only done USEF rated shows the past few years and...

It looks like, as DMK says, you basically get a parking violation. From their flyer -

Yes, this looks to be the case. I guess the real question is, are these rules just not widely known or just known not to be enforced? I know I had no idea I had to file a report for bute or other...
  24. Spinoff - California Drugs & Meds Rules - Robaxin, Dex and Equioxx forbidden?

Thanks to Poltroon, I went and investigated the CA website for equine drugs - http://www.cdfa.ca.gov/ahfss/Animal_Health/emmp/EMMP_Exhibitors_Consignors.html
