No, you shouldn't. BITD, the horse shows actually used to let you take HOME any challenge trophy you won. You got to keep it for a year and then you had to return it (unless you won it enough times...

Lovely story about a lovely horse! Congrats, LH! :D
-
... which is interesting, b/c I was told it would take 2 months by museum staff back in Nov 2012.  However, the explanation Kinsella was given (they only do it annually) makes a...

Aww, Quincy!!! My fave intl. horse. I saw his very, very first-ever cones course at a pleasure show when he was a baby greenie. He's come a long way since then! :D He gives me hope b/c he...

No offense meant, T1, but that doesn't sound especially safe to me - especially not with multiples!! I think I'd rather drive using some kind of modified 2-handed position w/ one hand as backup than...

This is not an either/or situation. Hundreds of thousands of kids have done both over the years, yours can too. The benefit is that Kid learns to allocate his time wisely and prioritize. Heck, I...

Is your horse an Irish TB by any chance?
I have always held this theory - based on no scientific data whatsoever, mind you  - that the Irish sneaked a little more cart horse into the TB stud...

Maybe they're a little slacker nowadays, then. I would like to think not, but it's interesting to see the variation in our respective stories.
For it was, in fact, the U.S. Border Patrol who...

Agreed. BTW, since you're into the Fine Harness stuff, you may like to know (if you don't already) that the word on the street is that South African stallion, WGC CCV Casey's Final Countdown, who...

When mine was stolen from SD, he actually crossed the border into Canada at *Detroit*. I think the killer buyers must just drive around the country until they've got a full load and then head north.

Thing is, if the AQHA/APHA disciplines could JUST SAY NO to the whole peanut-pushing thing, I would be sooooooo much more interested in joining their party.
They have some cool ideas: I *loff*...

It's pretty darn close to it now... GREAT pic in my book!!
And look: because you're NOT pushing down on his neck, the observer (judge?) can actually SEE that he's rounding down nicely... and it...

Just for giggles, I'd like to add HRH Avery (reg. name Beano's True Level) and my first-ever OTTB, Opening Night (reg. name Good-oh) to the list. I know Rusty Stirrup has connections w/ Good-oh's...

See my previous post. The sumb*tches have ALWAYS been like that. The way Suffolk is going now is the ONLY way. Just trust me on this. I'm the voice of bitter experience.
-
That really is awesome.
Hopefully, Suffolk will also tighten up its security so that the killer buyers can't visit the backside w/ a little boy in tow and pick up "the horse that belongs to my...

2 different functions: breastplate keeps saddle from slipping, running martingale to help control horse. I never liked the combo things & most certainly can't imagine them on XC!

If you get a chance to try various thicknesses & sizes of reins, do it. My show reins are 3/4" wide, but they are *very* thick, and TBH my Walsh reins, which are an inch wide but a great deal...

I have someone who may be interested, I'll give you a call!

Heehee, fair enough, MistyBlue. I didn't check the freebies on Equine.com in your location. In mine, it's almost ALL OTTBs, and it just made me want to cry.
-
What lauriep said. Although, maybe I'm the only one, but I really *do* see it as being effective for the hunters and eq. today in *some* circumstances. Over the weekend I was looking thru...

Not only that, but I just discovered 34 pages of Free/Free Lease horses available at equine.com...!!!

Trak, we need a "heart" icon on this forum!
I don't think it's by ANY means a bad idea to learn to do both, particularly if you have aspirations toward driving multiples/coaching. ...

North GA.
$125 a month for self-care board. HRH gets a private paddock (well, truthfully, he gets the run of the place - we let him free-range it when nothing's going on!) and a 12 x 12 stall on...

Oh, Rosina Copper is another good one! I used to re-read that one a lot when I had Penny, b/c Penny was very similar in temperament!

My AM routine takes about 20 mins total:
Grab halter and car keys in case I need them.
Step off back porch, meet HRH Avery, feed cookie, open gate, point him in direction of barn.
He wanders up...
