My orphan foal just turned 31 today. He was bottle fed as a youngster and kept with a goat and a mini until he was a yearling. I don't think he is cocky or pushy.
Ditto to the powerpack, sand clear and priobiotics. Also may want to check for ulcers.
My two 30+ year olds tend to do far better in the winter than they do in the hot/buggy summer months. They are both arthritic, but move around very well for their old age and yucky looking Xrays :)...
I do not care for the mares movement either!
Condolences to you!
I am in the same situation as you are, except I am only 30 and it was a freak accident, not a suicide.
I also have 2 elderly horses and a limited budget.
People say not to...
He is listed again! This time I am not in a position for a horse(of course)!...
This guy is posted again! Someone needs to buy him. I wanted him last year, but am no longer in a position for another horse....
This doesn't look like a good fit to me. Perhaps try a saddle with wither gussets. I think a horse built like a barrel with no wither would be more suited for a U shaped tree...this horse looks to...
If you live in an area that gets snow, I would not get one.
If it's in a windy spot, I would not get one.
I boarded at a place with one for years and I did not like it.
We have a rototiller attachment for the tractor that I use twice a year to keep down the grass.
I have perfected the "geriatric program."
I have a 30 year old and a 32 year old that are still going strong.
Turnout--my guys have 24/7 turnout with good footing and a nice big shed that has dry...
Unadilla is the auction. Don Knickerson is a local kill buyer.
Correct me if I am wrong, but there is no Lyme vaccine manufactured for horses. Some people use the canine vaccine on horses, but it is not recommended by the manufacturer, and most vets do not do...
I think this depends on the horse/rider combo and what they do.
A few things to consider:
1-An ill fitted saddle will eventually cause back soreness no matter who sits in it.
2- A large,...
If she is really serious about going to prelim I would pass on this horse. If he is quiet and sound she may have a nice low level eventer to play with.
Are they free or free leases?
How did he vet?
If the children have issues, it's just as much your fiances fault as it is their biological mothers. Maybe the fact that these young boys only saw their father 2 weekends a month could be a reason...
Is he generally a quiet, laid back type? Does he buck on the flat or just after a fence. A 12 year old horse always bucking AFTER the fence is usually pain related. I too had a similar situation...
inquiring minds would like to see a video of said horse :)
I'd recommend Larkin Hill and Aering Green.
Just what she said.
Do you have videos of them in the ads so people can see how they move?
I called twice and Maureen never called me back. Maybe he sold and they just didn't delete his ad.
