My rule is, if I wouldn't want you to come visit me in my home, then you are not my friend, on facebook or otherwise.
I have several friends who accepted friend requests from someone who seriously...

We use a petsafe wireless instant fence. With two units, the dogs have something like an acre available. It works amazingly well with our dogs - but they are aussies and extra smart. I wouldn't...

Well said on both fronts! I love that response - I'm pretty sure it would shut anyone up, and the rude response can be personalized to each busy body!

Plenty of kids whinny and gallop to you - have you not met a horse crazy little girl??!?!?! ROFL.
Having kids and having a baby horse is not anywhere near the same experience. I think you either...

If you don't want children badly enough to want to deal with the inherent sacrifices that parenthood involves, then you really don't want kids. I wouldn't trade being a mom for anything - not even...

I had to call my husband and get his opinion.
He said he'd go with the heavier inflation, generally. That would be if you have a heavier tire than is standard for your vehicle. He said he...

I have a 2008 F350 long bed, crew cab, dually. The 6.4 engine is good, but the "extras" are maintenance hogs. We're in it for probably $20k in repairs - but it does have 206,000 miles on it, mostly...

Same here. Since we've never had a fecal indicate a high worm load, I just try not to worry about it too much. Without dragging, it looks like well, crap, lolol.

Good question - and I don't know. He's on the road now. He tows for a living (hot shot), so I trust his judgment on this issue.
I think an issue that hasn't been addressed is driving. I think...

I don't have swaying issues with my expedition at 65 mph on the interstate with 18 wheelers. I do have a beefed up suspension, and my husband is very careful about keeping the tires inflated...

Well, that's why I said MANY and not ALL. Obviously, there are plenty of vehicles labeled SUV that shouldn't tow anything. There are also trucks that should never tow (Ford Ranger). That was why I...
-
Well, many SUVs are just "trucks" without a bed. Yes, my F350 is more vehicle than my Expedition, but my Expedition is no different from an F150, which is definitely a "truck".

I don't think you can compare firm ground to concrete though. Even hard packed dirt (in a natural environment) has way more give than concrete.
-
...another good point. If it takes 15 minutes to find the hoof, obviously, the whole process takes longer. I hosed everyone before my trimmer's last visit. Our east TN mud right now is hideous.

I've towed with almost everything, lol. I've had a Jeep Commander, 5.7 liter with tow package - loved it!; I have an Expedition, 5.4 liter with tow package - it's fine; I have an F350 crew cab,...

I'm sure there are some exceptions, but rarely will a healthy foot with a good trim have more than a superficial chip. Obviously, horses who haven't had good nutrition and trimming take some time to...
-
Regular trimming on the non-shod ones can also vary if the horse has developed some unevenness, cracks, whatever.
Maybe one difference is in how often they are trimmed? My trimmer takes no more...

I need to do that - assuming it is ever dry here. In east TN, we are making up for the drought w/ endless rain and mud, or snow and mud. It's horrible.

How much hay is that, in pounds not flakes? I'd up the hay first, with pellets or cubes, if you can't get more "real" hay. More beet pulp won't hurt. Good luck.

My mare is absolutely unconcerned with dogs, and a few weeks ago, we had a coyote cross the trail within 15' of us, and both of our mares had no response whatsoever. I did have one very strange...

My vet says no bute for abscesses, and I followed his advice when my mare had one last Fall (after an injury that bruised and abscessed). After a few days of discomfort turning to pain, I decided to...

A barn, a tractor, and a slide in truck camper. Not necessarily in that order.

My hay is in the run-in, which is about 100' from the pond, and 250' from the heated trough that we only use when the pond is frozen.
I think they drink less often when grazing, as the grass is...

I feed it too. It doesn't make any of mine hot. I switched off it for a bit last summer, and I saw a quick decline in hoof and coat quality.

I have one mare who can open, unfasten, and otherwise dismantle almost anything. The freedom feeder didn't last a day with her. I feed with a galvanized horse ring, and she has taken it apart at...
