Yes, that is exactly what Maya needs to borrow. ;)

She was 3rd. That is my child's side saddle, pony breastplate & girth, and linen habit they were using. :) They leased the pony from Cavallo for the day.

As someone who recently purchased a former 2* horse, and had to explain to Mr. SSR that no, the horse couldn't do the greens even though he had never done a hunter show in his life until last week at...

I saw that, and it made my day!! :D

I hunt with Middleburg, and yes, we do offer a discounted young adult membership, but I can't remember what the price of it is (I think around $1k though) nor what the age limit is. Please call or...

I don't think they show the hunter breeding, just the performance classes... I could be wrong though...

My horse was unfortunately one of the ones breaking gait. He just was NOT happy with the crowds/noise/etc that went on that evening. He warmed up beautifully in the Gold Ring, and then just lost it...

That may be true... But a top hat is correct with a frock (if also wearing white britches and topped boots), in addition to a tail coat.

As others said, the only way to be mostly assured they won't get hurt is to be an indoor-only cat.
We have one cat that is a house indoor/outdoor cat. He started out as a barn cat only, but since...

A kind COTHer looked the horse's record up for me. Thank you! :)

I don't have a USEA membership to do a Historical Search on a horse for pre-2006 records. Is there someone who would be willing to do so?
If so, please PM me, and I will send you the horse's...

The OP said they are looking for a topper for hunting. I took that to mean for Opening Meet or other ultra formal hunt, as opposed to showing.

A lady wears a 5-5.25" crown top hat for hunting, possibly a 5.5" if she is quite tall. A gent's top hat is 6".
I would recommend purchasing a vintage silk topper, as opposed to a new one....

Email me. I would be glad to help you. :)

Well, with my guy, he drops and gets a happy look on his face.
It is sort of disturbing. ;)

Yeah, we have tried all of that in the two years I have had him. A lot. Doesn't make a damn bit of difference, unfortunately. On most horses, yes, the "come to Jesus" meeting can work. But some are...

Yes, that was the one. :)

LOL, did you steal one of my horses out of the barn? One of them is the same way as your horse. Cut late, very unproperly disciplined stallion-like ground behavior, MOUTHY as all get out, and he will...

Her movement and changes are not a hindrance. Bring her. You will have a blast. :)

Some people had button braids and pulled/banged tails, and others had show hunter braided manes/tails. Tack was either traditional hunter attire, or the Irish/UK type saddles/bridles. Both were...

Mr. SSR and I primarily foxhunt. We both have our color with Middleburg. However, we also show in the hunters, and we have been pretty successful at it. When some show-oriented people are aghast that...

I was the riding judge for the pure and part-bred Irish horse classes last year. The judges are Irish, and come over for the classes each year. They are fascinating to talk to, and really love the...

My choices:
1. Middleburg/Upperville/The Plains/Marshall/Warrenton, VA area
2. Charlottesville, VA
3. Aiken, SC (as another said, if you have $$ and don't have to work/can work from home)
3....
