I used Kathleen Gustafson.
This thread has been both horrifying and eye opening for me.
I learned to ride in the 60s and 70s, and I was never taught anything but the step-down method.
I am totally paranoid about getting...
I wouldn't do that now, and I feel bad that when I was younger I didn't know better. But when I was younger, I didn't know better.
I never thought of a boarding stable as private property. Of...
I pay somebody for horse nutritional advice. She recommends 1-2 ounces of IODIZED salt top dressed on their feed each day. If it isn't labeled iodized, it doesn't contain (added) iodine.
Oh. I thought this was going to be about house cleaning. I have so much crap on my tackroom floor right now, it is shameful! :( Waiting for fall for a serious re-org.
Oh. It's concrete under...
That is SO COOL! :)
If that worked on spiders, I'd buy one for myself! But the reviews say it only works on flies.
This is when I first got my horse. A before and after of his first barefoot trim.
I just bought a pair of rope reins, and I had the vendor split them and spice them with a bit of rawhide thong. Now they will break in the event of an emergency. I feel much better too.
I guess you did fall off your bike if you didn't think to get pictures!
I'm overcoming my own phobia. Mine is mainly about riding "out." For whatever reason, I feel safe-ish at home in my own tiny pasture. "Out," I feel I have no control over anything. A helicopter...
I'm guessing she bought the horse and hasn't had time to get back on COTH because she's bonding with the new horse.
What do you call it when a TWH has all that white on his legs, face, and belly?
Just, FYI, that original post was written by Kathleen Gustafson who is also an equine professional (and thus should be credited).
ETA: I think it's significant that both Katy and Kathleen agree...
There's a really great podcast about horse life in Canada, Equinely Inclined. You can go back and listen to the entire series. It took me a couple of weeks to get through it. Very fun!
I WAS getting crap hay. About 15 months ago, I switched to bagged forage, and my horses are doing *so* much better.
How about just using feed for treats? Dr. Kellon, who specializes in IR, recommends Nuzu Stabul 1, which can be purchased at Tractor Supply Company stores, but you might need to call Nuzu first to...
Wow. They had some neat stuff. I couldn't even tell what some of it was!
Hey, I definitely think you should use something like The Clip or the Tie Blocker so that if he does fall over, the rope will give.
I use The Clip in my cross tie (2 of them) because my horse is...
Wait! What books? Link them, please!
This saddle pad will keep his back cool. You can put whatever you want on top of it, and you can cut it to whatever shape you want.
Every time I read this subject line (I like blue but) my mind fills in "And I cannot lie!"
I'm holding out for a drone.
