Thanks for the info. You learn something new every day.
I read that, but I did not take that to mean that a groom can never give an IV injection.
My reading is that section 1 says you can't inject within 12 hours, with three exceptions. Then section...
That is just brutal. I would rather trot through a ring of fire.
Not sure about USEF. I just perused the rulebook online and can't find anything regarding administration of IV by a vet only. I meant 'legal' in the law sense, not in the USEF sense.
It's ok for experienced grooms to give injections for several reasons:
a - it's not illegal...see article here: ...
Yes, there are bad people doing bad things. And I'm sure there is more use of drugs like Ace than there was in the past. But I take exception to a couple of points in your post...
I just don't...
Love this! Words to live by!
Ok, then no other conclusion except she's a fruit loop.
(Yes, I, too, love fruit loops - except they are actually called Froot Loops.)
In general, I'm in agreement that the trainer is a complete whack-a-doodle, but there is one thing I find a tiny bit odd.
At a presumably large facility (assuming so since there are four trainers)...
I think that's why you're having such a strong reaction. As an outsider, seeing what you saw, I might be horrified as well. But, had you been an insider, which context and background to that...
So sad. Godspeed.
Another vote for Bazinga.
Can't you just picture Sheldon on BBT saying it? Bazinga. :)
Got it! Thanks! I prefer the paper copy and have ignored the emails. Perhaps this gave me the nudge I needed to get more comfy with the e-version.
Excellent points raised in the commentary.
I have a subscription but can't seem to find this online. Can you please give more specific instructions on where to find the commentary? Thanks!
I've been saving this for myself, but since it doesn't look like I'll be getting a mare anytime soon, and I'm partial to S line Hanoverians, I'll throw it out there.
Can we see that video of the show? I think that's where you'll find your answer.
I suspect the show environment is causing you to unconsciously change how you ride. This happens to a lot of...
I've never heard this before. Can you, or someone else, elaborate and enlighten me? Thanks!
There's nothing 'wrong' with them. But they're all pics of jumpers. The discussion is specifically about hunters.
It's not fair to compare a photograph of a jumper to a photograph of a hunter...
I think that's the whole point of the discussion. Today's pros are capable of riding in whatever form or style they choose. They choose the current style for a reason. It seems to produce winning...
Ondeck, SSR, and JSalem - thank you for your very informative posts. Super helpful!
17 responses - and still no one has answered the OPs question.
Yes, I know it's been discussed at length, but is there a simple explanation for why many riders choose this style?
fairtheewell - I think you are the winner! :-) Not only did you get the horse for free, you made money when you sold her the first time.
Just for a little fun on a Friday - what was your best bargain?
A friend recently purchased a nice Dutch warmblood gelding for $10k - advertised for $25k. She got a pretty darn good bargain!
Love him! He's adorable!
