You are my hero!
I'm a bit of an all-arounder. I'm sitting on a lot of saddleseat horses right now (and I LOVE it), so I put that as my primary. I also ride dressage, hunter pleasure (working on getting some...
Previously posted here, so I'll just link the thread: http://www.chronofhorse.com/forum/showthread.php?416429-There-are-no-Arabians-in-America
This immediately came to mind: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4QGPWLY-EM
My gelding does this too. He just holds his off to the left, even in turnout. No idea why, but several of his half-siblings all do the same thing. I've just chalked it up to a genetic quirk.
No, correct me by all means! I completely forgot the Young Rider end of things!
Arabian rules take juniors to 18, rather than 17, so this may be the source of the confusion. I believe you can compete dressage at Youth Nationals as a Jr until you're 19, although at a USDF show,...
I would also say Sundance.
Did they have Morgans? My dad had Windswept Pansy for some time.
There was a Canter horse named Booty Man. I wanted that horse BAD, lol.
I didn't see Norfolk and Way brought up.
Well, if it makes Equus feel better, I found this gem in a COLLEGE biology textbook this year:
One of my horses is 17, a second is 20. I would be FURIOUS if the barn owner put either of these mares through a surgery they only have a 50% chance of surviving. I don't have the money for that...
This is how I do it as well.
This really is something that, for safety reasons, should be taught in person by a qualified instructor. Arabian, Saddlebred, and Morgan barns are a good bet. I know my trainer long lines...
I guess the perk for me is that my SIL is moving there, lol. Think she'd mind if I, uh, schedule a visit that just happens to be that weekend?
Probably true! lol
Ah. I see. LOL, slang really does vary, doesn't it?
Dare I ask?
I show Arabians, so yup, the knot is routine (except on the gelding that ripped his tail out). My horses have long tails, so I don't want them stepping on it.
This is how I change mine as well. Much more subtle than a flip.
I'm in Utah! I am more than happy to help you network :D I show Arabians (and we have a fun show scene), but I'm going to start taking hunter/jumper lessons this fall again to round myself out a...
Just in case you hadn't seen it yet:
Anyone going to watch the five gaited special? (I can't watch the side saddle until this evening, as I'm stuck at work. I totally plan on catching it on demand, though)
Two of mine get injections. The first is a 20 year old mare that's been a broodmare most of her life, but was kicked (at least, that's what we think) in the right fore and has some arthritis as a...
We really don't have that many forums. I'm all for a side saddle forum, and I'd also REALLY dig a saddleseat forum (I think we're gaining more and more interest there as we go).
I got to ride my friend's 3-gaited while she was out with a back injury. Boy was that horse FUN! Two of mine are Arab/ASB, and I love it. I want a PB saddlebred someday :D Sadly, I'm at my limit...
