So slight roaring problem...do tie back surgery...voila...near perfect horse.

over 200 views and only one comment?
So from what I understand of these changes basically they are making the Hanoverian studbook far more open similar to many other fairly open studbooks.

Yes, provide food, water and a comfy place to sleep.
They will move in and consider your farm home. Good hunters will continue to hunt even with food provided.

ditto on Timex's comment. DO NOT add organic matter to an oudoor ring. It will create mud, and dust. Break up the ring with a discer, and then harrow frequently. If needed, add some sand.

I think lots of potential stallion prospects are gelded when the breeders are not at all interested in standing a stallion. There is a limited market to sell stallions, so it needs to be a breeder...

congratulations Bill, he's fabulous.
I like Budweiser. I don't own one, but have a grandson. He's by Agmemnon, out of the mare Brauhaus, previously mentioned on this thread.

Fantastic post bloomingtonfarm. It's a fabulous analogy!!! love it.
It's about studbooks, and studbooks are breeders, countries of origin, mareowners and breeding philosophies!!!! It was up to...

In my opinion it does not significantly effect the marketablity of his offspring in the short term. In fact as other posters said, his visibility in the hunter ring may very well improve the...

I think they are talking actual oocyte injection with one single sperm cell. That's pretty advanced technology and I suspect most of us on this board do not have personal experience with that type...

Can I make a third suggestion. If she was my mare I'd register the foal CWHBA. The mare won't have to attend inspection if she's approved GOV. You can keep her at home and not risk the delicate...

I just did a quick count. I have 15 horses right now, 6 with Burggraaf, 5 with le Mexico, and 5 with Amor. Maybe that's why I said it. I just happen to have a lot of that blood at home.
Off...

Great bloodlines, but are they really new bloodlines????
Burggraaf, Amor, Le Mexico??

I wouldn't do it. I'd use a stallion like Yellow Creek on a WB mare.
As great as those bloodlines are, you can currently buy REALLY NICE 3 and 4 year old young TB sport prospects for very...

Happy Canadian here!!!
If I get sick, I get looked after and I don't have to worry about deductibles, conditions excluded from future policies or anything like that. It's all free, and the...

Even at 1 lb per day 6.5 ppm is very high. The reccommended level of selenium is 0.1 mg/kg total diet per day a quick figure would be about 1 mg for the average sized horse, and 10 times that level...

Because breeders should support their own national breeding program. Why is it that the Danish, Swedish, Dutch, Belgian, German, Swiss etc etc breeders are support their own studbooks and North...

Start supporting your registry. Register that foal with one of the two Canadian organizations and let the horse sell on it's own merit. The trainers, riders, buyers don't care...they want a quality...

Truecolours...you have some homework to do. Unknown parentage is not allowed up close for CWHBA and their system for handling unknowns is really no different then that of many European studbooks.

This links to the front page of the CWHBA site. At the bottom of the page there are details about the CWHBA work with Agriculture Canada.

Donella,
It's unfortunate you've had bad experiences with the CWHBA. The other posters are absolutely right, most studbooks will issue papers on foals out of non warmblood dams. The colours of...

Why limit yourself to registry?. Why is a stamp on the paperwork so important? Breed the best match to the mare to produce what you want and give it a paper...a birth certificate..that's really all...

Rousseau for Unique (Gribaldi/Burggraaf)
Landfriesse II for Riverdale (Kadans/Popsaysnoxx)
Redwine for Wallena (Waldorf/Raj Kapoor)
Cotopaxi for Allie ( Lorbas/Popsaysnoxx)

It doesn't have much to do with breed. I think:
1. It's a horse's own character, his willingness, his boldness to be able to go the extra mile when you want him too.
2. A lot has to do with...

Equine.com will allow you to do a search by age and breed.
10000-12000 is probably a more realistic budget for that type of horse.
That's the price I usually ask for my yearlings and weanling....
