Andrea Leatherman Update

I spoke with Andrea and Buck late this afternoon. She is ok, all limbs mobile and able to carry a normal conversation despite being in a lot of pain. She has suffered a concussion, six fractured ribs and collapsed lungs. Her vest saved her life. Andrea was unaware of Neveahs passing and asked endlessly about her until the subject couldn't be avoided. Buck shared the devastating news with her :(. She will stay hospitalized for 4-5 days with her Father and Buck by her side. My heart is absolutely torn apart over this :(. We had just spoken days earlier about how far Neveah had come and her potential. RIP Neveah and many many jingles to my best friend and one of my idols.

Seriously one of my biggest fears...both for horse and rider.

I will be keep her in my thoughts and wish her a speedy recovery. Broken ribs are so painful :(

Not trying to make this an air vest bad vs good discussion, but did she have one on?

Jingles for her and a toast to the darling horse. It had to have been a nasty fall, glad she is recovering nicely.

Sending speedy recovery vibes to Andrea and lots of peace to heal her aching heart over losing her horse. Such a tragedy.

Oh so sad, praying for her.

My heart aches for her. Hope she is able to recover well and quickly. That has to be just too uncomfortable to imagine, never mind the grief. :'(

So sad....it is a nightmare of all event riders. She is a strong person but we all hate to see/hear about someone going through this.

My thoughts and prayers are with her. I know that her body will heal in time, but it will take much longer to recover from the loss of her mare. :sadsmile:

Losing a friend is hard, losing one so unexpectedly is doubly hard.

We've know Andrea since our Young Rider days - she's a wonderful human being, and a skilled and careful horsewoman. Hugs to her and her family. RIP Neveah.

I just saw the article. SO sad! Poor horse. :( Sounds like a freak accident.

(Just with the article's author had not called the mare "it" when talking about how she fell. She, was a she.)
