Will her babies have allergies? Anyone know what the % chance is that they pass on as long as the stallion doesn't have allergies? She is a nice jumper mare except that she now has debilitating allergies as a 17yo. Thanks

I knew a stallion that had allergies and quite a number of his offspring did as well or at least lots of different "sensitivities". So I would say there is certainly a genetic component.
Allergies are definitely hereditary in horses
My friend has a mare that has pretty debilitating allergies and her one offspring seems to be affected by them as well.
Like ticofuzzy's friend, I had a pony with allergies and the foal she had for me (before I realized the extent of allergies and her only known foal) also has allergies.
Thanks all. I'm amazed that all the experiences are 100% pass through of allergies. No breeding for this mare then.
