We had a horse fall into an iced over pond, finally got him out just as the vet was getting there, thanfully, as he was going into shock.
Horse made it, had stove pipe legs for a week, but was fine after all.
One of the scariest times of my life, by myself, crawling onto the ice on my belly to get a halter on him and walk him backwards, breaking the ice in front of me, for a good 40' onto the solid edge.
Vets do save horses, truly, in all ways.
