Residual fluid in hocks from septicemia as a foal
A lady I know has a mare (4yrs old) that had septicemia as a foal and it was treated but since then she has had a fair amount of residual fluid in her hocks. I was just wondering if there is any chance of the septicemia "flaring" again or once it is treated all is well? Also long term prognosis for fluid in the hocks? Are we looking at arthritis sooner than later or would it all depend on what her x-rays looked like? Anyone have any similar experiences? I have never dealt with septicemia so know very little about it. Thanks!
