Vestibular in a collie - need a new vet in Indianapolis
Looking for some advice. This is one of the rescue's collie...I'm the on call person for emergencies this weekend.
Senior collie, severe arthritis, history of ear infections. She's not anywhere close to me. The foster has taken her to the vet, they diagnosed an inner ear infection. Blood work and urine was normal. They sent her home on Cephalexin, Rimadyl (she had been on Rimadyl previously). They took her off the ear ointment (clotrimazole).
She's nauseated, drooling, head tilt, walking in circles, falling over and has nystagmus. She's not eating or drinking.
She wasn't given steroids or an appetite enhancer, but was sent home with prescription dog food.
I have a phone call into the vet, because I don't understand why she wasn't at least given an appetite enhancer.
Anyone have any suggestions? The plan is to give her some time to improve, but right now her quality of life sucks. The foster, unfortunately, is one who will try a little too hard to keep them going, she was trying to force feed her.
