Boy or girl kitten when introducing to another?
Am contemplating bringing home one of the beautiful barn kittens - 9 grey tabbies, or tabby and white. It's so hard to get work done, or even to leave!
However, I have a good balance at home - Irish Wolfhound who loves cats and is good with them, and an orange Maine Coon mix boy. I adopted my cat from a shelter in Maine when he was about a year old, and it was reported he did NOT like other cats when I adopted him. (He literally leapt into my arms when we walked into the cat room.) We got the IW later - she's an older dog who was always curious, but polite towards the cat - it did take a year for Mr Maine Coon to warm up to her, but they are good buddies now.
Still not sure about bringing in another kitten, but if I decide to, would it be easier if I brought in a girl kitten? I've heard theoretically Mr Maine Coon would get along more easily with a member of the opposite sex. But thought I should ask the experts ;) here first. Thanks!
