Showing at rated shows: wait until First level?
Due to the expensive nature of showing which is even greater for rated shows, I'm wondering whether to put off the rated shows until I'm doing First level. I know that scores from First level tests can count towards bronze medal requirements (assuming I make it to third level and get decent scores), but I don't know if training level tests can be used for anything specific.
I've shown my youngster at Intro and Training level this summer at schooling shows and did very well in some nice company (including some FEI level pros). We will continue to show in training level next season and possibly try some first level later next year as we begin to school it this winter.
I don't want to be short-sighted, so I thought I'd post here and get some perspectives on this. Am I better off saving my $$$ to show at First level? Or is there something useful for be gained from doing rated shows at training level with my limited budget?
