Earlier, I mentioned that I LOVE my Dublin's! And I still do....however, there is now a small hole in the back seam. I contacted Dublin last week, where it states on their website how quickly they respond...and sadly, I still have not heard from them. I am really upset, as they are only a year old and I really, really like them.
Hate them..zero sole support..under my bed in the box..wouldn't buy another pair...not made for all day comfort to stand around in..foot bed absolutely flat and yup I can buy insoles..but why?? after $$$ spent..live in love Ariat paddock boots....PS the Dubarries you buy now are not the same quality as the one's when 1st introduced....defie Dubarry to tell you they are not mass produced somewhere far far away from Ireland where no one except tourist wear them...which is why they don't hold up as well as when 1st intrudced
I bought a pair on sale (several years ago), did not love them (only because they did not fit my foot well) and ended up selling them to my former trainer (at the knock-off price). She completely loves them and wears them all the time. Because I could not resist, I just ordered a pair of the breast cancer ones, which I am hoping are made on the alternate last (that some of the newer ones are made on) as that does fit my foot better than the traditional version. I did like them for course walking and chores in cooler weather. I did not ever ride in them, and found them too hot at temperatures that I still saw many people wearing them. I do far prefer my Ariats in general and if you want the most comfortable things ever, try the volant paddock boots, which are more comfortable than tennis shoes
Like others have said, I can't justify buying a $500 boot. Especially if I can't ride in it either.
I just have to decide if I want to keep the Pinnacles even though I can not ride in them. They are at least three inches too short to keep from catching on the flap and so big in the calf even when snugged down as tight as they can go that my leg moved around and got chafed. So I like them except for the main thing I wanted them for.
Here is a pic (I don't normally share FB pics and have made this one photo public)... just wanted you to see where it hits for me.
I do wish they had calf and height options instead of going by foot bed alone.
I heard back from Smartpak so offered to take them back if I wanted to send them back and suggested paddock boots and half chaps as an alternative or $800 tall boots. I really don't know what to do. I already ride in paddock boots and half chaps and sure as heck aren't buying $800 tall boots but don't know if I want $200 boots I can't ride in.
I have a fractured sesamoid in one foot and a removed shattered sesamoid in the other. My feet are cranky :P
That said, Dubarry's are lifesavers to me. I can be in them ALL DAY comfortably, and that is saying something. BUT! I put the little squishy gel pads in them which made all the difference in the world. (You know the ones they sell at Rolex and "massage" and do laundry and fix your back and your knees and everything else?). So, that said I would agree that the sole support isn't the BEST, but I find them far nicer to walk around in compared to paddock boots like Ariats, and hey! I didn't buy them for the sole support, I bought them because they are waterproof, warm when they need to be, cool when they dont, don't slouch down, I can ride in them, and at the time I bought them they were bad-ass and not the "in" thing. I still love them, though they are much less waterproof :(
Does anyone have the Ovation Rhona or the Ovation Duncan by chance? Can't find a calf-size chart online...
Resurrecting because I'm considering purchasing a pair... I love my Danskos for just about everything around the barn, but my gumboots bit the dust (leaking), and I need something warmer and waterproof.
I see that Ovation also has a knock-off they've thrown into the ring. My research says that the Dublins have issues with the liners ripping. Sounds like the Dubarrys are a little hard on the feet (I need a little extra padding, probably). Any feedback on the Ovation?
My friend has the Dublins and she loves them. She rides in them all the time and they still look good. I have large calfs and had to get a knockoff brand/Shires. I have worn mine to ride in and they are comfy to walk around in. I find them a little to warm in hot weather though.
I have Dublin Pinnacles and love them. I love Dublin boots in general. I wear them both at the barn and in real life in the colder months. I love them. I generally get 2-3 years out of my Dublin boots before I wreck them. However, I am hard on boots and don't take care of them. They'd probably last longer if I conditioned them or cleaned them more than like once a year.
Oh, I love those Pinnacles. I think those were my favorite in my cyber shopping last night. Happy Birthday me!
I bought a pair of fleece lined tall waterproof timberlands for $150 this fall. Excellent value and i have gotten lots
If good use of them
I purchased Dubarry boots this past fall and really like them. I wear them to the barn, to work, and wherever. It's not unusual to get a compliment on them though the random guy at Costco that stopped me to say "nice boots" was a little  Anyhow, I am quite happy with the purchase.
