Yep- As a renter, its just not that easy.
I have never had to give up a pet, but let me tell you, renting, and owning a pet, isn't that easy.
I have had my beloved "Fatty Cat" for over 17 years now. There were more then a few times in my life that I COULD NOT find or afford a place that allowed cats.
Once Fatty had to go live with a friend for a year (college dorm DOESN'T allow pets!), and other times, she had to live a life of secrecy!
Seriously, I have GONE NUTS trying to find a place that allows animals. Ended up with a place that didn't allow animals, just had to keep the cat out of the windows, and panic every time the land lord had to enter the apartment.
Now, I am still a renter, but in a house, with a few cats and a small dog. I DRED ever having to move, because I know issue #1 is going to be finding a place that allows my pets.
Even my current place had a NO DOGS! policy, but made a concession for my small, well behaved dog.
I agree, some just dump their pets, but really, don't be so judgmental, there have been times in my life I have been left sobbing, worried how I was going to find a place for me, and my pets to live.
