Our little hero Aiden, how is he?
Our little hero Aiden, how is he?
Adorable. Look for Lisa Hawk's facebook page.
on FB there are 5 Lisa hawks, only one with a pic of a woman and a little boy. Is that Aiden? I got the warm fuzzies just reading shea'smon response. I remember donating items to the fundraiser for him.
You can keep up with Aiden by checking out his website: http://www.caringbridge.org/fl/aiden/
And yes, right now her Profile picture is of her and Aiden. :) I would link to that, but I'm not sure how?
It amazes me what an impact one little boy has had on so many people. I know he has forever changed my life. If fact, if my baby - I'm 3 months preggo - is a boy, I'd like to name him Aiden.
Holy cow! Aiden is already 8 years old?!?
That is shocking/fantastic!
I definitely cannot believe that Aiden is 8.
Oh, my gosh! I can hardly believe he is eight!
Just curious, since i wasn't around that long ago... just wondering how COTH was involved. Or was it more of a jingles type thread?
There was a jingles thread, but it went beyond that. I think it was one of the many things that helped to cement the COTH community. We did a fundraising auction, but I'm not exactly sure how to explain how much Aiden's story touched everybody.
There are a couple of Aiden threads in the Favourites forum - you should go have a look.
ooo thanks for the link, warm fuzzies all over again.
There was a fundraiser where we donated items to folks who bid on them. Then we shipped or delivered the items to the winning bidders. There was also a stallion breeding auction as well to raise $$ for Aiden. It was such a wonderful outpouring of support it really made you proud of the COTH community.
I beliebve one of our members was lined up as a partial lobe transplant donor.
And Lisa sent an adorable hand-written note to each person who contributed in some fashion.
I checked out his website... Aiden looks GREAT!!!!
Hey guys!! Lisa here, Aiden is doing great!!!
Aiden has had a rocky past few years, infact after a few years of trying to figure out what exactly was wrong, Aiden was finally diagnosed with a rare neurologic condition that they believe might be stemmed from his anti-rejection drugs. So... 8 months ago, out little Lion was taken off his main anti-rejection medicine to help him have a better quality of life and see if it helps...
He still has NOT rejected! We are just thrilled.
He still has a lot of 'bumps' along the way. 2 months ago Aiden almost slipped away from us. He had tore his stomach lining and then became full organ septic.. it was a horrible few days.. but that little guy pulled through and thank GOD he is still here!!
I can't ever thank COTH aunties (and uncles) enough for what you did for our family almot 8 years ago. I tell people all the time, and they can't ever feel the full gravity of it all. It makes me tear up just replying to this thread. I will never forget the prayers and angels and the close deep friendships I have made from this group.
Whether we are sitting playing games in a hospital bed, or if he is home being perfectly typical and normal.. it is ALL GOOD! We will never forget how close we came (and many times after) to losing him. Each day is a real gift!
THANK YOu for asking. I update my website frequently and if you are seriously bored, you can go and read the journal history, to get the 'full story'.
Love to you!!
Aiden and Lisa!
Lisa, thanks for the update. Continued best wishes to you and Aiden and your family!
Aiden even got his picture in The Chronicle, didn't he? :)
Wow I can't believe he is eight either! Glad to hear he's doing well :)
8 years old! My GOD time flies. Glad to hear Aiden is well, albeit with some bumps in the road.
Aiden is 8 years old?! How can that be?!
Thanks for the update, Lisa! Your kiddo has a special place in my heart.
It is so crazy how I read your names all the time, when I go back over the old threads.. so many of you are like family to us. Our second son Mason (whom we named after the COTH bber who almost donated her lvier to Aiden) LOVES horses. He is going to be doing some little 'lessons' with a buddy of mine. Learning how to brush and groom and walk on leadline. It is so amazing how Aiden never 'took' to the horses, but little brother has an obsession. YAY!!
Lisa, so glad to hear all is well. I've been wondering how he was doing. Sent you a friend request on FB.
