EEE/WEE booster timing
I gave my horses their EEE/WEE vaccines a couple months ago, but forgot to give the booster in the right time frame :uhoh:. They each got another shot of it a couple days ago. Do I need to do the booster in a few weeks, or will the 2+ month gap between shots not be a problem?
It was their first time ever being vaccinated? If not, there is no booster.
I don't know. I'm assuming they've never had the proper vaccination protocol... better safe than sorry. I know they did not receive any vaccinations at all for several years.
Are they adults?
If so, and they got shots as foals... they should be fine.
I'd check with your vet to see if titers are possible.
Where there have been EEE outbreaks in New England, and you're almost part of it ( ) I'd go ahead and boost if you can't test titers.
And yeah, that's ME saying that--me of the minimal vax.
EWT is one of the few vax with a long track record of few to no reactions.
In fact, one year when tetanus boosters were in very short supply, my vet gave me an EWT to boost a youngster who had a puncture wound.
So for $8 or so... go ahead and boost in the recommended time. ;)
