Let's see what the numbers show!!!

The numbers after each are if you had multiple mares ... e.g., you had 5 mares that foaled ... geddit?

Ha! That's 3 fillies to one colt. I predict it will be a filly year!

I have 4 fillies and 2 colts and 2 left to foal. I hope I voted right. Now my clients have 4 colts so far out of 6 mares....

The last 2 years were all filly years, and so far this is a colt year. 3 on the ground are colts and we have 1 more to go any day. This all from the same stallion too!

The numbers at our farm are too small for any reliable stats... one filly so far this year and one (MINE!! MINE!!) will probably go within a week. I so want a filly!

I really hope it is a filly year, at least here. Last year, one foal at the farm, a colt. In 2005, three colts.

I have bred 5 foals in my life - ALL have been fillies.

This year I broke the mold with a BAY filly, though. The previous 4 had been chestnut fillies (even though 2 were by a grey stallion and one of those out of a bay mare!)

A friend of mine wants to know my secret! LOL I just don't know what I will do when I have a colt - it will be strange!

Fillies are winning: 19 to 13. That's 59.4% to 40% IT'S A FILLY KINDA YEAR!!!

Of course you all know I've got a spreadsheet set up for this. Hahahahaha.

This year has been a filly year so far - 3 foals - 2 fillies 1 colt. Mares in Ireland are still to foal so I'm hoping the trend continues.

Last year was an insane colt year out of 7 foals 6!!! were colts

Still waiting (that's good - she's only at day 317). I want a colt (because baby will be sold - boys are easier to sell), but have a feeling it's going to be a filly. If so, it would be my first filly & I wouldn't complain too loudly.

One redheaded filly for me. This is the 2nd filly foal from this mare. She's had 6 babies, first was a filly, and now the most recent.
A friend in the area has had two chestnut fillies already, she's got one more to go.

This year my first mare had a colt, my second is having a filly. One of each, I am pretty pleased about that.
I got curious and counted up the foals by Ironman this year so far and he to date has, 2/3 colts and 1/3 fillies. Last year it was almost 50-50. The year before was more of a filly year. But this year at least so far is the year of the colts.

My beautiful TB mare, Marcie Marie, gave birth to her first filly June 6th at 11:15 PM. The filly is by Raffaello and she is gorgeous. She is bay, like her Mom, with a beautiful large tear drop on her face that tapers down into a very fine strip at the end. She has a tiny muzzle, her nickname is Teacup.

Is there a site where people on this thread are posting baby pics?...or can we post here? I will be posting pics of my filly on my web site this weekend. I've been busy playing with the new girl. :-)

We had our second arrival this morning - a colt by Sir Donnerhall! I tried to add him to the chart and couldn't because I had already voted with my first foal, a filly. So, maybe the numbers aren't totally correct.... ?

Only one more mare to foal and hopefully she is having a colt.

Sooooooooo envious of the filly owners! This is the first year that I have had 2 colts (usually get all fillies or even numbers of each gender) so now I am crazed with their antics (biting, leaping, mounting their dams, etc.).

I am surprised it is a filly year, I know of one breeder who had 3 colts, another with 2 colts, myself with 2 colts, my vet with 2 colts, 2 fillies and another friend with 1 filly, 1 colt. Seems pretty even or heavier for the colts??

I did put in my order for 2 fillies next year!!!!!!!!

I've only had one baby per year, but I had colts the last three years.

My anglo-trak mare lost twins about four years ago, and one was a filly, one was a colt.

And my first baby was a filly, but that was....six? years ago.

for me it was 2 foals, both of them colts. I've heard many locally say they're having a colt year, but I just visited a friend who is definitely having a filly year-16 fillies, 6 colts and 2 left to come. She also had 5 losses--2 of those were colts & 3 were fillies.

I didn't actually care if mine were colts or fillies. Neither were to be for sale, and for myself geldings work just as well as fillies. I'd rather not have to bother with gelding, but it's really not that much money to have it done & with the good vet I use now, the procedure goes much better than it has with our previous vet.

Sadly the second of my 2 colts didn't get out alive, so my boy is an only child. He'll have a buddy at weaning time though as I relieved my friend of one of her colts! :D
