Soon I hope. I have made my list and checked it twice.
Perhaps there is still time to be considered with yet another Parelli thread, or PV, arguing with yourself under various alters then pitching in to support yourself with others. Some kind of weekend trainwreck to get the various substance abusers involved.
We haven't had a really good Cloth troll in awhile either. Pretty tame lately.

Oh, I don't know, the person who started a thread about why it is OK to dislike ugly horses (or something like that!) seemed pretty trollish to me. Other than that, I agree, there have not been many trolls about lately!:)

8. Poster in most need of visiting a sanitarium - Um, homey will leave this one alone. EDITED TO ADD: After taking a brief foray into the Sporthorse Breeding portion of COTH, I found myself reading all the "lovely" NOT posts by LawnOrnamentLuvr AKA Mimwell AKA Mimsy. Whew...what an interesting, uh....., character. Yeah, yeah, character. That's it. Definitely needs a nice soft room and a cozy hug-me jacket.
9. Poster whose threads you look most forward to reading - Reynard Ridge (of course), MistyBlue, LMH, SLB (where's she been lately, anyway?), ESG, Aunt Esther, Appassionato, etc. etc. etc. I loff dem all.

17. What you like best about the BB - The camaraderie we share...although physical strangers, we are family.

My favorite train wreck  I mean discussion was the; I am buying a 2 year old arabian for my daughter, what color stallion should it be, I jumped the stallion that wasn't mine out of the round pen and took it for a walk before anyone found out- thread. But I can't remember if it was one thread or two happening simultaneously :D ?
It was my first train wreck I read after I joined (really didn't help that I was just out of surgery and on a crap load of medication  ). Some sick, deep dark part of me just never wanted to see that end.

3. Thread that just wouldn't die - Hmm, not sure I can narrow that one down...maybe I'll come back to this one....but maybe the Barbaro thread - Yes, I love him too, it's been 6 months, and you can read all the updates on Tim Woolley's racing site.
4. Thread that you wish had never died - The Crocodile Hunter one - so sad. :( The Incredible Invisibles, LOL, The Horseless Rider/riderless Horse thread....
5. Best username - Bugs - N - Frodo - makes me happy just saying that!
6. Most annoying username - AnYtHiNg lIkE tHiS of course, and when common words are misspelled - drives me nuts!

18. Has any - one/thing/topic - changed the way you live? Well, before I became Ivan's foster Mom I didn't have a clue what EPSM really was, so because of the wonderful EPSM/IR threads here on COTH, I have learned SOOO much about what it is, and how to feed a Draftie.
19. In general - how was 2006 for you? Pretty darn crummy. We lost our job in Oct of 2005, my Grandmother died in Feb. my husband and I separated in June, my beloved 8 y.o. dog died in Aug, My 4 y.o. son was Dx with Asthma a few months ago, I had to give my 6 y.o. TB - the one we bred, raised and trained - to my husband, and the pony I was free leasing back to Jsalem, because I just didn't have the money....but even with everything going on in my life, I have been able to see SO many blessings happen as well. My exShow hunter Thistle found a wonderful home with a fellow COTHer, and I have Ivanator's Ivan at my house now, who is a pleasure to ride, and have around - everyone loves him! I am also blessed in having Ivanator as a good friend now, and will sure miss her, when she leaves for Cal.
All in all, I'm just thankful for the year to be over, and am very hopeful that 2007 is a good one, even though it may mean that I may be single once again. :(

How was 2006 for you?
So great that I have had hardly any time to hang out on COTH! I . . .
- spent the summer working for an awesome equine vet (practice) :sleepy: - the sleepy icon is because all I did on my days off was sleep
- went driving for the first time (as the incompetent navigator) and had a blast :D
- rode asterix's beasties a bunch -- this also goes in the category of whose beasties you'd jump in front of a train for
Actually, I'd jump in front of a train for Deltawave's Bonnie or any other ISH.
- became a Great Warrior Volunteer (tm BarbaraG), including judging stadium at a starter ht
- hugged a bunch of foals :) , including some I'd jump in front of a train for
Most valuable friend I've met via this BB -- FairWeather.
I'd also put her on the person I'd most like to meet list, as I haven't seen her in ages! :p
Most inspirational posters: Deltawave, RAyers, and Ghazzu, as well as everyone else who joined them in their untiring defense of evidence-based medicine and the truth
Posters I'd most like to meet: deltawave, Ghazzu, any of the vets, MistyBlue, Reynard Ridge (when are you going to come to the training 3-day? this year or next?), Merry, Beezer
Poster I'd most like to get drunk with: FairWeather, lisamarie8, Robby Johnson . . . I was lm8's official alcoholic beverage holder at the last FPP outing.

19. In general - how was 2006 for you?
Well, let's see, job-wise, it sucked the first part of the year but has made a DEEFINITE improvement throughout the year and now I am VERY happy with my job. Horse-wise, I have to say I am happy with that. I got to start my youngster this year which was a treat. I am so excited to be starting our riding life together, we have a lot to look forward to. Also, I moved my horses to a new barn and that has been a good thing. Personally, with my DH, things have been pretty good. My only REAL complaint is the fact that my ship has not come in, the damn thing is WAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY late and I am not sure when the ETA is at this point.

Thank you for thinking about me. This month is going to be the hardest as his birthday is the 18th:cry: Not looking forward to that at all. I can already feel myself slipping emotionally. i am very in control ....VERY.. to the point it scares me. I have to be though for my parents.. the reason i moved down here. If i fall apart they will blame themselves for his death and I cant let them feel that way. i would rather struggle emotionally then let them hurt.

1. Your Favorite Thread of the Year -
There have been many. The Steffan Peters thread is one of the funniest though. Also enjoyed the comraderie on waiting for my foal to be born (there was a thread that STF started about who else is on foal watch in which her mare went FOREVER and a DAY before foaling).
2. Thread that has impacted you the most -
About Nootka's son's death. I had met her just a couple of years ago at an inspection and she was so nice - it was an awful way to start the day that am when I read that her son had passed on.
The other one about Barbaro's injury and recovery - I found out from the board before the news what had happend.
3. Thread that just wouldn't die -
The TWH Big Lick thing... tried to read some of it, but really after 30 pages I couldn't do it anymore.
4. Thread that you wish had never died -
Not Sure.
5. Best username -
Dressage Geek "Ribbon Ho", Bugs - N- Frodo, there are others, will have to come back and add them.
6. Most annoying username -
None of the user names really "bug" me, but I don't like to have to "think" when I see a name, which means that I don't like the ones with the messed up spellings/punctuation etc.
7. Most inspirational poster -
For different reasons: Renyard Ridge, Maren, Oldenburg Mom, PDM, I know that I am missing some!
8. Poster in most need of visiting a sanitarium -
Not going to go there, but there are many (prob myself included LOL)
9. Poster whose threads you look most forward to reading -
R. Ridge, Bugs-n-Frodo, Maren, PDM (when she posts), OMom, STF, 2Dogs, even slc... all for different reasons, and all for entertainment!
10. Poster who you want to come back as in your next life -
R. Ridge for her wit, Bugs for her modesty/honesty, Maren for her knowledge, Equine Repro for HER knowledge... there are more I am sure.
11. Poster who you most want to meet in person -
I have met MANY of the wonderful people on COTH (Home Again Farm, Maren, Jesse's Mom, just to name a very few), but I would still like to meet many others: Bugs (we'll get it together one day LOL), STF, OMom, Castlegate, avery, ... frankly, I am happy to meet anyone - I love putting names and faces together!
12. Poster whose horse you would jump in front of a train for -
There are several that I would do this, but my favorite horse (besides my own of course LOL), is Home Again Farm's filly from this year. OMG she is beautiful!
13. Poster that always puts you in a good mood -
R. Ridge - I snort more liquids out of my nose reading her prose. I can always count on a chuckle when I read her stuff.
14. Most Valuable Friend/s that you have gained as a result of this BB -
I use the term friend very tightly - being a military brat and moving a lot I treasure friends and don't use the term lightly. I do consider Bugs a good friend though.
15. Most memorable event from the BB this year -
The long foal watch and sharing that with everyone else.
16. Thing you would change most about the BB -
As someone else said - the "hang up" every once in a while.
17. What you like best about the BB -
The comraderie.
18. Has any - one/thing/topic - changed the way you live?
Nothing in particular has changed my life, but I do look at things differently sometimes - also it helps me learn new things (in terms of training, feeding, etc).
19. In general - how was 2006 for you?
Overall the year was good. It was a great show season with my colt that I bred from the love of my life mare. I also "broke" this same colt this year (what a great experience getting to ride the thing that you created). His mom (who has been a PROBLEM mare to get preg) finally conceived - the ultrasound confirmed it on my birthday (happy birthday to me!) after 3 years of trying. My mother went to Iraq and came home (my birthday weekend). Work is swell - always have job security as people will cont to hurt thier kids unfortunately. We had one beautiful colt born on the property this year. My barn was built. The only down thing was my grandmother being diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer (actually happend last holiday season), she went off chemo in Feb, and she has made a vow to see Christmas which her will power to do so is the only thing keeping her going at this point.
Happy 2007 everyone and Happy Holidays!

These are some tough questions!
1. Your Favorite Thread of the Year -
Any thread with the following words in the title:
-rollkur
-slaughter
-Parelli's big orange stick
-da mAgIcAL GyPsY vAnNER
-towing with less than a ___ size truck = death. ___ brand trailer = death.
2. Thread that has impacted you the most -
The one about the trailer door falling off, the horse fell out and he almost died (included a link to a news story). It reminded me how we should never get overconfident about safety. It also reminded me how fragile life is and how easily we might lose someone we love.
Also the recent thread about a certain big "rescue" which showed me how gullible I was. This "rescue" had lots of people including myself fooled they were a 501c3 Non Profit, and they're not. 99% of horse people are good people, but it's a reminder we need to not get taken by that 1% who are not.
3. Thread that just wouldn't die -
Anyone remember the thread that was added then deleted to say "1"... and people replied "2,3,4....125..."
4. Thread that you wish had never died -
Couple of threads with serious but controversial questions who were intentionally killed by shouts of "choo choo train wreck".. I was bummed we never got the original questions answered.
8. Poster in most need of visiting a sanitarium -
Me!
10. Poster who you want to come back as in your next life -
Erin. Oh the fun I could have as moderator... :D
11. Poster who you most want to meet in person -
county
12. Poster whose horse you would jump in front of a train for -
anyone
13. Poster that always puts you in a good mood -
Too many to list. Any one of many who are intelligent and consistent, even if I don't agree with them.
14. Most Valuable Friend/s that you have gained as a result of this BB -
I've made a bunch of new friends, especially the local ones I would never have met in person if it wasn’t for COTH (you know who you are! :) )
15. Most memorable event from the BB this year -
The discovery that Gypsy Vanners can poop majicak butterflies. From now on whenever I see a gypsy vanner, I'm seeing butterflies and having to laugh to myself.
16. Thing you would change most about the BB -
No more "Database Error" messages.
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings.
17. What you like best about the BB -
It's busy & it's full of great people.
18. Has any - one/thing/topic - changed the way you live?
No one topic, but it's been good for me to see things from totally different perspectives. It also reminds me the way things are done here (in my town) isn't true for everywhere in the US.
19. In general - how was 2006 for you?
Great!

19. In general - how was 2006 for you? It freakin' stunk, to be honest. Worst year of my life. Lost the best horse I ever rode, the best friend and role model I ever had, many other wonderful horses I have known, the last vestiges of a familial bond with my father and most of what I had with my mother, lost my hedgehog, my turtle, most of m time to ride, and nearly lost what saves my sanity every day when I was two inches from selling my horse, giving up animals, and going to law school because I just could not handle losing any more animals or people I cared about and wanted to learn to become the type of person who doesn't care- and I figured a corporate lawyer fit the bill.
Here's to a great 2007! I'm just pinning my hopes on 'lousy'- that would be better than this year by a long shot.

And my favorite post of mine from that thread, when trying to do dressage with TRIPODS:
Yep, the Kitchen floor is great for getting them to bend around your leg. Especially if they have the stove for support.
AND, if you turn the burners on, they will actively seek to bend towards your leg, rather than away from (they don't want to burn anything...)

5. Best username - Bugs-n-Frodo, goeslikestink, Dressage Geek Ribbon Ho...
6. Most annoying username - like so many of you, StUFF*^%LiKEthIS

18. Has any - one/thing/topic - changed the way you live? I guess it's made me diligent about checking for information and evaluating different opinions...I am more likely to think horse related stuff through first now.
19. In general - how was 2006 for you? Not good at the first three quarters of it. I was extremely ill off and on, but the last quarter has been much better! Hoping that continues into 2007. It was a GREAT "horse" year also in that I got my new OTTB and new saddles. I also got a "new" violin (over 250 years old) that has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl...and that was a REAL surprise from a dear friend of mine. DH had some nice things happen for him in the last quarter as well. So, I'm just focusing on this last three months and going for a good 2007. I am also wishing and praying for a GREAT 2007 for all the COTHers and for those of you who are suffering losses and sadness and pain to find joy, happiness, good health and peace in their lives.
Here's to a great 2007!
(PS: short note to Shahrazade---I sure do understand your last paragraph...sort have been where you are in my own past...DO NOT go to law school or give up on what you are doing! I did that and it was NOT such a great solution! It's just best to follow who you ARE INSIDE yourself and go with that---be true to YOU. I'm wishing you a MUCH better 2007 and happiness to come your way!)

1. Your Favorite Thread of the Year -
Sunskist Acres thread - I have to go with this one too. So many great threads, so many good trainwrecks. But the support for people and horses on this board is overwhelming. So honorable mention (still - a honkin' big rosette!) to Nootka, Irish Ei, SHiloh Acres, and the the assorted rescue/CANTER threads. Edited to add: The Fart Thread. Simply Priceless. And a spinoff from a Parelli trainwreck.
2. Thread that has impacted you the most- see above.
3. Thread that just wouldn't die - any of the slaughter threads.
4. Thread that you wish had never died - I still have fond memories of Allen, the movie. Thanks to that thread, I increased my kharma level.
5. Best username - hard choice here. So many good names.
6. Most annoying username - as long as I don't have to type them in, I don't care!
7. Most inspirational poster - again - so many. All the rescues - wow - if I started to list everrone I'd never get off the board. Plus all those who have dealt with serious illnesses and tragedies. And those who have posted the before and after photos of their rescues. Can't beat those. And Quin!! who turned Ted on to circus peanuts. And others on this board reminded me: Carol Ames, Free, Fancy.
8. Poster in most need of visiting a sanitarium - Uh oh. I think I should self qualify? Buy I'll see many of you there, right?
9. Poster whose threads you look most forward to reading - Again - so many. Ghazzu for horse care. Ideayoda and others on the dressage thread, where I mostly just lurk. Reynard Ridge of course, for sheer pleasure of reading! horse_poor for her wonderful WTD contributions. But a special mention to zagafi for her kohlrhabi stick of vengeance. Lori's updates on Sunkissed Acres. I should also give a nod to Coreene and Aunt Esther.
10. Poster who you want to come back as in your next life - someone like Lori who runs a rescue. Plus the people like Louise, cowgirljenn, Marli, TBlvr, all those who rescue from the kill pens and/or offer homes. I just don't know how you do it.
11. Poster who you most want to meet in person - way too many. Maybe one day we'll have a huge COTH gathering, possibly funded in part by JustBorn?
12. Poster whose horse you would jump in front of a train for - I would probably do this for any horse. But knowing my depth perception, I'd probably miss the tracks.
13. Poster that always puts you in a good mood - Reynard Ridge, all my co conspirators on the trainwreck threads, War Admiral, and everyone who posts about the rescue.
14. Most Valuable Friend/s that you have gained as a result of this BB -wow - some I have yet to meet but chat with a lot - horse_poor, AstonMartin, equusrocks, Snkstacres, feisomeday, alagirl, goeslikestink. 19. In general - how was 2006 for you? not a great start, but ended up okay. I'm okay, Ted's okay, my family is okay. I got FUNDED. And the best - at our new barn, where we have been for over a year - Ted has blossomed, and I have learned so very very much. So a huge thank you to my trainer and barn friends.

LostFarmer and Thomas 1 - with Egotoast and slc a close second. :D
Thomas and I are more like sparing partners. It can happen when you mix a stuffy Englishman that is a little set in his ways with a stuborn hillbilly redneck from Idaho. It would be a lively debate! Then we would share a cup of tea for Thomas and milk for me.

 For a few brief, shining moments, the Geek will be coming to NJ - between Christmas and New Years. Best user name: There are a few that I love (and don't see often enough)
Bornfreenowexpensive, bucksnort, and my favourite, LordHelpUs. ;)
Most inspirational thread: The Barbaro Recovery. Thank you VirginiaBred for keeping that going and keeping us all in the loop. Thank you to Barbaro himself, for being the Inspiration that he is.
I've made some wonderful friends through this BB - in real life, Quinn, Robby Johnson, Silly Mommy....you all know who you are.
There are so many who I like, admire and respect. I'd hate to start naming them in case I forgot someone.
Certainly, everyone involved in horse rescue, and rehoming OTTB's - and the way that so many COTH members step up to the plate to try to help - that is one of the most wonderful and memorable things about this board. Thanks to you many of these wonderful horses are saved!
I had a good year, I missed my dear Fred every second he was away at Hilltop, but I met a wonderful group of people there, and got through the separation reasonably sane. (again with a lot of support and cyber chin chucking)
My little Firefly who had the colic surgery last year is now a great big boy, strong and handsome. I got so much support and encouragement from people on this BB when things looked very dark for him. Thank you all.

OK, well in my defense, when does one just say "Freebird." Never - you gotta say FREEBIRD! - preferably waving a Zippo lighter, but since none of those are available on a BB, I had to settle with an "!"

No time for lists but I'll hit the high spots.
My favorite thread was probably that one about the wacky sales website they actually changed.
The one that wouldn't die definately the TWH.
The one that affected me most was an OT day fast food thread where I learned I am not the only one who loves those nasty Jack in the Box tacos-so does La Gringa.
I get annoyed by usernames like hUTrJprg-al8*34957 as well as those who feel the need to list every horse/pony they ever owned, will own, want to own or want everybody to think they own on the bottom.
Reynard Ridge make me laugh and I'd like to meet her.
The glitches and slllllloooooowwwww speed are annoying, especially during the hours around noon when I am able to get on at all.
2006 was bad at work but there still is work and it can only go up-I hope. Horse, cats and self are well if getting along a bit.

18. Has any - one/thing/topic - changed the way you live? Does feeding BOSS count?
19. In general - how was 2006 for you? Not too bad. Lost some friends-who-really-weren't-anyhow, found some new ones, got in some great trips and got settled in at the farm (going on Year #3)

This thread has encouraged me to make several New Years Resolutions:
1) Be cooler. At least be cool enough to get mentioned on this thread.
2) Start reading threads that contain more than one page (as in, eliminate the laziness factor)... because I'm missing out on the good stuff. (Currently, the only multi-page threads I toouch are ones that contain the phrase "choo choo.")
3) Start reading the sappy threads instead of just the funny ones. I need to get in touch with my emotional side.
Therefore, I'd like to nominate this as the most inspirational thread.
And speaking of trainwreck records, I haven't seen Goldy all year. Have I just missed out? Because ending up last year with the infamous "I know who killed Helen Brach" thread was pretty much a high point in her career. It was nice to get a few Helen Brach/Joe P threads earlier this year, as well. Isn't it about time for a new one?
As far as posters I usually like the most, I'd say Findeight (funny how about a month or so ago I finally understood the username... I'm a bit slow) and Aggie4Bar.
The thread I wish had never died- the Grammar Nazi thread. Erin is a fun squasher. :) The revival of it on OT Day was pretty lame.

17. What you like best about the BB - the absolute wealth of advice and support from the incredible horsepeople on this board.
18. Has any - one/thing/topic - changed the way you live? Not one thing specifically, but I have certainly increased my knowledge of things like nutrition and Cushing's.

Hmmm, quite a few of them were especially hilarious this year.
2. Thread that has impacted you the most -
Our fellow BB'ers who've lost loved ones this year.
3. Thread that just wouldn't die -
What was that one with the new member who happend to be male and had 5 billion nonsensical replies to it this year? That one was like throwing a stud in with a herd of mares in heat, LOL!
4. Thread that you wish had never died -
The $700 pony ones.
5. Best username -
Okay, someone has Mare Force One??? If so, that's probably my new favorite, that's hilarious. Also love the Geek/ribbon ho, Hitchinmygetalong, Lordhelpus and a bunch of other ones.
6. Most annoying username -
The ones I can't figure out the correct pronunciation to, drives me batty when I can't figure that out.
7. Most inspirational poster -
Aunt Esther, oh to be so Estherish. Tom King, someday I'll fix things correctly. Ghazzu because someday I may have healthy horses or just go to vet school and save myself some income instead of handing it out all the time.
8. Poster in most need of visiting a sanitarium -
Come on now...who here is sane?
9. Poster whose threads you look most forward to reading -

The Flig. Of course.

13. Poster that always puts you in a good mood -
Well, the one's who make me laugh of course.
14. Most Valuable Friend/s that you have gained as a result of this BB -
Everyone has value except for those who don't.
And that was my Confucius-ness for 2006. (or confused-ness, not sure which)
15. Most memorable event from the BB this year -
The change to the new format. Messed me up for days.
16. Thing you would change most about the BB -
Adding a steaming pile of manure icon to certain posts so I don't have to bother opening certain ones.
17. What you like best about the BB -
It's free. And I have other horsie humans to talk to while on farm-arrest. Don't laugh...but you guys help keep me sane.
(okay, somewhat sane) (stop laughing)
18. Has any - one/thing/topic - changed the way you live?
Yes...I'll never pay $500 to go look at a sored TWH horse heading for slaughter that only knows how to Big Lick RK style from a non-profit organization. If not for this BB...I could have gone and done something like that ya know! Phew!
19. In general - how was 2006 for you?
Hate to say it as a perpetually sunny dispositioned person...but it sucked out loud since August with all our health crises and screwed up weather and I'll be damned happy to boot this year goodbye. :o
Reynard...darlin...I need to apologize to you. I read your reply in this thread and apparently you're waiting for an opportunity to get me drunk to kick me back.
It seems at some point this year I must have kicked you when you were drunk and for that I heartily apologize.

First some posts on the racing forum about a racing string she'd been involved with for years and selecting a trainer questions...and wasn't that her asking why jockeys "Hauled on the mouth pulling up at the wire" and wasn't that bad horsemanship? Then some racing as a bad thing posts on Off Course and then that gosh awful trainwreck about a horse for her daughter:rolleyes: .
Makes you wonder.

Make PT's like the old BB, where you can keep going and going and going (the new ones stop at 100 posts, I think). Also, maybe if the questions in the Help Forum could actually get answered by a moderator or administrator on a consistent basis...? Some are just left hanging for a long time, or not really answered.

Barbaro! the rescue threads- I have 2 that are here because of COTH.
16. Thing you would change most about the BB -
We need to get back to - well, being the smart group we are....
17. What you like best about the BB -
Most of everyone here. I have truly found friends here- thanks!
18. Has any - one/thing/topic - changed the way you live?
The Diva Cup- how sad is that?
19. In general - how was 2006 for you?
Good in many ways, altho the economy in MI has been a struggle. I learned that Hock Injections are important for my guy and that I can go prelim. (big deal for me). I now have too many horses- so some threads are better left unopened!:(
Here's to a great 2007!

I thought the Chestnut thread was good fun.
But my all time favorite was the barn rant that turned into the nothing thread. That started around Christmas 2005 but I think it extended into 2006.
