LMAO! Ok, I've been reading this thread since the beginning because it is just hysterical...no matter what slc2 thinks.
But, I must say that my vote for best response goes to Kathy Johnson. Yes, clearly, he is living it up!
Women are typically the majority in most equestrian sports, I think, so it's no wonder that we have "grabbed" onto the glory of man truly enjoying his moment in the big ring!

Or, out?
That said, someone was clearly out to get him. No decent editor could possibly just let that slip. It was intentional.

Paranoid much?
Considering there were three different photos in three different magazines (Ride, PH, USDF), I strongly doubt that.
Conspiracy theorists, care to weigh in?

The real question is, was it one photographer that captured the moment(s) and then made a fortune selling those moment(s) to said nag rags -
OR
was it many photographers, each entralled with Peter's performance photographing at different angles and shutter speeds and....each making some $$ on the sales of said photo?
If it was one photographer, perhaps she or he was too enthralled with the ride to notice the rider. Or maybe to enthralled with the rider to notice the protrustion....
So where is that video tape anywho? Did he ride in at full salute, or procede to salute as he rode????

Wow, Uncle Fester goes away for a while and returns to a wild party with 20,000 looks! Amazing.
Uncle Fester doesn't wish to pop all you lady's bubble but that bulge is most definitely NOT caused by Mr. Peter's johnson. Uncle Fester does not know what photographic trickery caused said effect but there is NO WAY, NO HOW Mr. Peter's would have Mr. Johnson at 'ten-hut' thereby exposing the Twins to Mr. Pommel.

I am now $35 less rich due to new subscriptions, just because I dont have physical proof (in the form of paper media) of Mr. Peters ..... fantastically successful ride(s), and live in desperate fear of missing another issue.

I wasn't going to post in this thread... BUT, I showed the picture in Pratical Horseman to some people and asked, "Do you notice something strange or funny in this picture? Is there anything that pokes out at you?" They couldn't figure it out, so I showed them. They didn't get it and said, "you are seeing what you want to see." What the heck? It's blatently obvious to me! And it's not exactly something I WANT to see in that context!

I just stopped in TSC, where I'm a regular so the staff knowsme by name. I picked up the Nov. PH and flipped to page 44, and yup, there it is! There I am standing in TSC looking at a woody. Odd. So I say,
"Tom, look at this"....the manager started laughing so hard I thought he was going to choke. Thank goodness there was a lull in business at that moment because the entire staff came over and was howling over that picture.
Poor, poor, Peters. But, hey, I'm thinking those people at TSC have no clue what dressage is...but they do now ;). So....he's giving the discipline some exposure. Ahem.
***Just had a conversation with dh and he reminded me of the JS Tropical Riders I had but I returned. They were a size too big, and when I sat down the zipper in the front buckled *EXACTLY* like this. I returned them for a pair that is more snug...something that women can get away with, while men can not.
SO...I believe poor Peters is a victim of an actual wardrobe malfunction caused by loose fitting breeches.

You know, Uncle Fester has got me thinking. I don't think it was a conspiracy by the mags to embarrass Stiffen, er, um, I mean Steffen. I think it was a fiendish plot by the German Dressage Team to render him unable to ride. Those in the know realize he is the USET's secret weapon and he will soon lead the US to dressage glory. So they hatch a plot to slip a little long acting Viagra into his drink at every opportunity. He may tough it out for a couple of international competitions but eventually, the pain will become too much, that and the fear that it might "freeze that way" will cause him to retire...prematurely.
Those damn Germans. ;)

If he ever gets tired of doing Dressage, he could come show in the Hunter Pleasure classes. The horse that wins should look the most pleasurable to ride, so he would definitely win.
