Woohoo!!

http://www.wkbw.com/news/Hoskins-Guilty-on-52-Charges-of-Animal-Cruelty-214699861.html

Guilty on 52 charges, not guilty on 22 charges. She's going to appeal, of course. *rolls eyes*

So glad at least on the 52 counts. Still mad that the cases regarding the cats were thrown out--I remember it being something like 50+ cats being kept in a small shed. That alone is a pretty clear indicator that you have a screw loose. (Pun intended.) Really hope her appeal is unsuccessful...

What is the back story on this one?

I don't know how cheer-worthy that is. All that time and money spent and she still gets misdemeanors and animals returned. Hell good is that?!?!

I was happy to see this. Sentencing is Sept. 29. Up to 2 years in prison possible. AFAIK, no word on if she gets to keep the horses or not.

I THINK (not positive) the cat charges were dropped as she signed the cats over to the SPCA.

BTW, drove by her farm on Saturday. It's obvious her horses are still being warehoused in the barn with no turnout or exercise. The pastures are overgrown and the fences are falling down.

Could have sworn I read today that part of it was that she was not allowed to work with, train, own or board any horses for 20 years.

I think the cheer-worthy part is that at least it's an end that doesn't involve her getting all her animals back and $2 million dollars from the SPCA to boot. The way this case has dragged on, a lot of us were beginning to despair that any modicum of justice might happen, no matter how small.

I thought I read she got 40 of her horses back.

Exactly, Sarah. No, the outcome isn't what we would have liked, but at least it's something. My friend works for the SPCA and they were all celebrating.

My mistake, got this one confused with the TWH soring asshat.

Sentenced, but no word on what happens with the horses, that are still locked in the barn I might add.

Unbelievable! "It's upset Mommy and Daddy". Well I hope mommy and daddy get their asses out to the farm and help her! I know someone similar to this scumbag. Fortunately the woman I know is down from around 30 to 4 horses, and has enough pasture to sustain those. She also had a worthless husband, and he's gone. She also home schooled her 2 sons, and they are both delinquent teenagers now. But "oh woe is me, I just got in over my head. I LOVE my animals and my children". That's supposed to make it all OK?

She's being allowed to keep the horses.

I am seeing conflicting information on this. According to WIVB the future of the horses is not fully determined.

http://www.wivb.com/news/crime/farm-owner-sentenced-for-animal-abuse

"The future of those horses remains up in the air. Their fate will be decided in a civil suit that is still pending."

I REALLY hope she loses the horses. I drive by her farm periodically and the horses are still in the barn 24/7. The pastures are unused and the fences are a mess.

The horses get the prison sentence and she goes (essentially) free.

All I have to say is, she has a FB page with a public setting, and does a WHOLE lot of FB'ing, for someone who should be busy caring for a barn full of horses...... :/

We should all post on there that she should be out mucking stalls, filling water tubs, and distributing hay. :-)
