I was watching the local news last night (Austin) and the reporters were discussing a recent house fire in which two little boys died. Apparently the house fire started from a truck fire. They said the truck fire was caused by a faulty cruise control switch that has been under recall. Anyone heard of this?

Did not hear about that story, but the recall has been in effect for a couple of years. I have 3 F 150's and I received letters for all 3.

I think that recall has been out there about 6 or more years. It's been a long time. Of course I ignored the 798 notices sent about my Expedition and just never used cruise control after that (rarely used it before for that matter). I probably would have been more paranoid if I knew it could spontaneously combust!

Oh well it was traded in in December for s shiny new F250

Yup - my 1999 Ford Explorer was recalled for this. Took it to the local Ford dealer & it was back to me within 48 hours. No big deal. You just have to take it to a dealer - any Ford dealer - & have it taken care of.
