I can really root for them to do well. He has contributed so much to eventing in the US, and Mensa (born Merisa G) is American OTTB with 40 starts who was MADE here. Hallelujah! And the rider is no spring chicken, which is so encouraging. They could nickname him "the galloping Grandpa."

Andrea Leatherman bought him off the track when she was in her teens. She did a great job with him.

Andrea and I went to YR's together years ago and she had Mensa in the 1*. He was class then, and I'll never forget every coach there telling her he'd run a 4* one day. And I'm ecstatic for Carl. Nobody deserves it more. He gives back to this sport ten fold, and isn't a bad rider to boot!
