Was that a 6-oh no, yes yes 12x 6=72-ahhh but no you take away 12 for landing and takeoff-yes yes I was right. Sure enough 12 of the 14 responses were identical to yours-one person said horses weren't made to jump and it was inherently cruel and another just thought you could put them anyhwere...

I am relatively new to these boards but have definately noticed a certain group that dominates this board. I really don't care much if I kill a thread or answer a question in a manner that someone else doesn't like I am still gonna speak my mind. I consider it verbal vomit and am damn proud of it. But it sure is nice that I am not alone. So count me in. There are enough inside jokes and back slapping going around for all of us. Beside "those" people won't even view/respond to this thread cuz it isn't about them.

I fully agree! I have been a registered member of the COTH BB since almost 2 years ago, and before that I was a longtime lurker! I remember when the boards had under 300 members! WHEW!

Anyways, a certain group does domineer the board for the most part. Even those who came months, even a year, *gasp* after me.

I'm sick of the cliques, the inside jokes, and all of that blah-blah nonsense, so I just quit reading it. I read things that are interesting to me and forget about the rest of it.

You know what, if a 'influencial' group of COTH BBers doesn't respond to your post (which they won't if it doesn't talk about them or have some joke/conflict/whatever relating to their lives generally!) be happy you didn't have to waste your time reading their posts!

Not only am I an invisible poster, but I disappeared for awhile only to realize that no one even knew I was gone. The best was that someone asked a question about my college, and there was acknowledgment that "oh yeah, I think someone from there posts on this board once in a while"... At least they know I exist, right?

Only to find four days later, three threads above yours is one entitled-need saddle suiggestions...anyone tried the Bates Caprilli...and it has 26 responses all from people that bought it the day before!!

that "flag" is way cute. Wish some of my posts HAD been ignored, sometimes you feel like hiding when it doesn't come out the way you thought or an innocent remark deeply offends somebody. I have been a member of the BB for quite awhile, but don't post all that often, party because I've been out of the horse loop for the past year--I've only been riding TWICE since last October; once was at a really horrible trail-riding "stable" that a non-horsey friend dragged me to because she wanted to surprise me. The horses were all dangerously skinny, had awful feet, wore heavy ill-fitting western saddles all day and had nasty tempers as a result of all this. The one I was riding proved to be markedly lame in one foreleg, and when I asked why he was still being ridden the woman who owned the barn replied "Oh, he's always been like that, he doesn't mind it"... meanwhile the horse had his ears pinned the entire time and was head-bobbing like mad. I feel really bad for riding him at all, but by the time I saw how bad it was (when we started to trot) we were deep in the woods on some god-forsaken trail and it was too far back for me to walk. To conclude this tangent, what was really bad was that this place was featured in a big huge article in the newspaper touting its greatness and that's how my friend (and probably countless unsuspecting others) found the place. Ugh.

ANYWAY, what I was trying to say was that I feel removed from the horse world I love so much, and so I don't speak up much. I feel like there are a lot of really smart, funny and knowledgeable people on this board and I wish I knew some of them! So I guess I'm another member of the invisible posters clique. I noticed and replied twice to your thread, LMH (Bates Caprilli Event). Does that or my username make me oh-so-Gomeresque? You'll have to blame me if you didn't get many replies. I've noticed a trend here (that I'm trying not to take personally or anything... sniff, sniff) that whenever I post, the conversation becomes dead quiet and I can practically can see tumbleweeds roll by.

seriously though, I have noticed since I started posting on this BB that most people are incredibly kind, supportive and encouraging and helpful and positive. some are not. but that's a lot like the real world too.
But I too, have a husband who works away from home, sometimes for weeks, and I have "met" wonderful people and certainly made friends on this BB! They have helped me a lot with the isolation that I often feel.(you know who you are!)

I am most definitely invisible, coming from a state that is not very horse friendly (there are no circuts to follow here except for our own little local one!!)

Can I just say that I love NH? I was at Bretton Woods this summer at the Mt. Wash. resort hotel and it was fantastic. We took a drive in the country and found the cutest tack shop tucked away on a back road, a small house just CHOCK FULL of goodies on two floors. I can't remember the name of it, I think it had the word "fox" in it somewhere?

It is pretty to look at in most areas during certain times of the year.

It really isn't bad from the 'normal life'perspective, but from the horsey one it leaves something to be desired - lets just say there are not a lot of options in the nice barns/trainers department. Not to mention how fricken cold it is!!

Then lo and behold you see your post with a FIVE STAR RATING and SEVENTY NINE RESPONSES and you think "wow I've made it."

So you go read your post only to find out it has TAKEN A LIFE OF ITS OWN....it is no longer about your topic but it is about a whole NEW topic....so off you go to try to answer a question on blanketing to see if anyone will take your advice on THAT thread!!!!!

Okay, okay, this has gotten waaaaay outta hand. 5 pages? I mean come on!?!? I don't think that it is all about getting a slap on the back, now is it? I think, I mean it is only my opinion, but I think it is the lack of the "WINK" "NUDGE" "NUDGE" thing that we are all lacking. The boards are extremely impersonal and we are trying to personalize it with these cheezy ass icons and doofy smiley faces and the one term I abhor "LOL". I wish that in the internet of the future we could add our own personalized icons to show our GAWD GIVEN personalities. Like a Leetle barking Norwich for when I get all excited abut someones post. Or the ass-end of a horsey dropping a load when I don't agree with someone's point of view, or sound effects to lighten up my day. That would make it oh-so-better. but, i think i'm invisible on basically every board i post on....maybe everyone hates me...

dry clean only: whats wrong with maine? southern maine isn't too bad (south of Augusta). its just anything north of that (try 6 hrs north of Portland) that it gets real bad. there are 4, yes 4, shows a year that are within 3 hrs of me. unless, i go to canada....:) i hate maine!!!

It has nothing to do with being boring! It has everything to do with people rushing through pages of posts and only reading those posted by their virtual "friends." Occassionally you post something that someone actually reads and comments on. But the odds are like 25 posts to 1. The more you post the more you get to know the people posting.

It hit me, when I read Canters last post, why we are so "unpopular" and why we should veiw it as a blessing...

Which leads me to conclude, since I spend TONS of time here, and still have very few posts, and cannot fathom how these people get SO MANY, that we are the unpopluar ones b/c we spend so little time here, because we actaully have real lives! I've got a fantastic job! Six hours a day, full benefits, T-1 line, latest software, new PC. I do the payroll, purchasing and billing (not to mention feeding the office Mr. Wings' leftovers).

My co-workers all ask how my horses are and have basically lived the entire Lillet/Wings/Maddie ordeal along with being truly supportive over the recent Warrenton and Middleburg Classic efforts. Our graphics department prints off my photos, the IT department helps with Infopop problems, Engineering and ILS can be counted on to check Maddie's site frequently.

When I need to boogie early to meet the vet or farrier, my boss asks what he can do to help.
