Have any of you guys even been? I went 2 Mondays ago, and It was so much fun! And I mean, that is a major advancement for me, who is the biggest chicken ever! Today I went galloping with my pony after our lesson, he was perfect and actually had brakes! (He looses them when we're in the field!)

LOL yes 5 times. Once it was raining and so my shoes were slippery and I fell down the stairs and screamed ROFL. It was funny, my friends all ask if I need them to hold their hand going down the stairs. Oh yeah, that was during passing period on the only stairs we have in that building. Well basically since I moved out here, away from my barn, everything has just sort of disentegrated. (how the heck do you spell that?) I'm not doing any shows or going anywhere, I only have one place to ride, I just got a new horse that I can't figure out, my trainer went to Devon and won't be back till mid-June, and a bunch of other problems that aren't really horse related so I probably can't post them here but they are sort of affecting this. This has been going on for nearly a year now (even before I got Griff), and I just don't know if I can take it anymore. I can't really explain it but riding just isn't fun anymore. /infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif Yeah well anyway sorry for boring y'all but Erin isn't very happy lately!
Anyone have advice?

Are you taking lessons at all? Like, is there an assistant trainer at your barn? If not, maybe you could trailer to another stable for lessons every once in a while just to see people that you aren't related to and to get some good professional training (for you and your horse).

What are the boarding places near you like? Maybe you could board Griffen at one of those places and train/ride there, that way you could meet people and ride with people at the same time.

OK so I know you have 10 acres...are they all cleared, half wooded or what? Do you have an arena? How many jumps do you have? Maybe one day one of your horsie friends could come over (FatLilPony!) and y'all could put away a weekend to making jumps, "exploring" your property, etc. Alot of stuff is alot funner with friends /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Do you have a round pen by any chance? Do your parents know how to lunge? If you have a round pen, you could free lunge Griffen, it really builds a bond (as cheesy as that sounds). It's amazing, they come right up to you after you chase them around in a circle a few times. If your parents know how to lunge, maybe they could give you a lunge lesson on Griffen. You wouldn't have to worry about controlling him or anything, just getting the feel of him. If they don't know how to lunge, teach them! I'm sure they will appreciate learning something new.

Do you have any siblings? If so, maybe you could give them a few lessons on one of your old horses. If you don't have siblings, maybe if you baby-sit the parents will be willing to let their child ride once every so often. And you won't loose your "ammy" status because you will be baby-sitting, not teaching /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Some other weird ideas: sleep in your barn, do your homework in the barn, play with your horses in the pasture. Keep a journal! I love mine /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Whatever you do, don't loose hope. We are all here for you, and there is always that wonderful little thing called E-Mail. And remember, 10 acres of horses is always a whole lot better than 10 acres of chickens.

Yes I'm taking lessons, from a really really awesome trainer- unfortunately this really really awesome trainer just about runs the Devon horse show, and she's busy up there until mid-June. I got ahold of my trainer's "right hand (wo)man" and she might be able to come out sometime next week just to help me. I was taking lessons from my horse's old rider, but she had to go to Maine (don't ask), and she'll be gone till next winter!

I used to give my sis lessons, but she quit for softball. I might be teaching my neighbor's little girl soon though (for free of course). /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
