Its absolutely pouring here today and I'm bumming. The first day of spring had that hopeful feel that marks the end of a long winter. I tell you, our barn needs it. We're all rather crabby with cabin fever. The paddocks are a mess and turnout is worse than the middle of winter when it was snowy but at least safe to turnout. We're all on top of one another in the indoor arena, riding etiquette has gone to hell in a handbasket. My boys are full of beans and want to play, play, play. Then this rain comes along, promising that it will be at least 2 weeks before the ground dries up enough to be worthy for riding outside.

All that being said, I had a perfect perfect perfect night of lessons. Both of my guys were awesome. I put this one down in the books as the first time I've ever figured out how to ride both really well, one after the other. We raised the fences, schooled some 3'9" oxers plus....they were perfect. The fear from the bad fall is just about gone (although my leg is still rather unsightly....then again it wasn't particularly attractive before the accident!).

I love my horses. It also dawned on me too. Two months off of jumping, light work, some chiropractic work + rest and NO FLORIDA seems to have given me too very sound, very fit, very happy horses. Hmmmmmm, cheaper too.

Well, here's my contribution to keeping the Post About Life going.

Aw Maz, if it's raining where you are then it's heading our way next. Appreciate your attempt at virtual mouth to mouth but I think the patient is code red.
Heidi, isn't it time to put it out of it's misery?

*sniff sniff* nooooooo!! but if you must make it quick and painless, I would want our beloved thread to suffer more that it has to....*weep*

Does anyone know how to speak pig latin? If so can someone teach me please?

*laugh* you know you post on this board and e-mail to much when your prof comments on how fast you can type while "listening" to one of his lectures *ooops!* how was I to know he could hear me type on those crusty old keyboards? lol! /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Yes, it's time Bella, er Canter, er Anne. While I'm saddened, mostly I'm relieved that I no longer need to wait a meaningful minute for the damn thread to open on its 51st page.

There is certainly nothing, though, to preclude the thread's reincarnation as, say, "Question for Tin"... /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Do you think the thread left a last will and testament? What do you think it bequeathed to the faithful among us? I hope there isn't a blonde widow, 25 pages its junior (i.e. the wake thread) waiting in the wings to contest the will...

Tin
Mar. 22, 2001, 03:19 PM
"Question for Tin".....hmmm I like the sound of that! But it probably would be as significant if Tin was the one who posted "Question for Tin" perhaps one of my alters will be so thoughtful! LOL!!

I must say that this thread let me get to know all you all (notice I didn't say y'all; personal growth) and bow down to Heidi the thread god for bringing us together.

*I now turn to the thread* Thread, I will miss you. You gave me an excuse to not pay attention in class and I spend coutnless hours building you up. I am proud of you. You make all of your "mothers and father" very proud. Don't be afraid of death. Just head for the light and don't look back (we will be there with pitforks incase you do). Know that we love you, you gave us joy and entertainment as we flung the orange thongs around and filled our toques with snow to make beer snow cones. Goodbye my beautiful, we shall miss you.

LOL!

Dearest thread.
Thank you for hours of entertainment and enlightenment. Please forgive me for missing posting on pages: 1,2,3,4,5,9,12,14,22,32,33,34,39, 41, and 49 and forgetting to respond to Fred's name dilemma.

Is it time to say goodbye? /infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif I will miss knowing that no matter how long and boring my day, no matter how pointless the rest of the board seems at times, that the Canadian baby is always there to provide entertainment and laughter. Mostly laughter, directed at the following:

Heidi- 'cause who else would've thought this up?
Canter- what can I say? I just have a thing for Italians! /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
Tin- "The Adventures of the Baby who Refused to be Born" are such a parallel to "The Adventures of the Thread that Refused to Die"
Silly Mommy- even Americans can't help but be charmed by our outgoing spirit, infectious laugh, and REAL beer... I'm thinking it was mostly the beer that won you over /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
MAZ- posting from a whole other continent, that was inspired... what dedication!

Rather than a wake (so unoriginal and uninspired, don't you agree?) perhaps we should do a "Behind the Thread" (ala the Behind the Music tv show)

Not an alter dahling, Bella is my character in Moesha's upcoming BB feature film project. I'm getting into character sotto sotto. I will rival Sophia Loren as the spaghetti seductress.

in the mud yesterday. I rode a client's horse, and was reserve ch. in the schooling hunters--1st, 2nd, 3rd in the hack, the champ was 2nd, 1st, and won the hack. I could've (how many times have you heard that) won the second class, but the stinkin horse is too good with his changes, and he cut in on a corner, as I'm thinking "inside leg" to push him back out, he starts doing his little butt-wiggle thing like when he's balancing himself for a lead change (that would have been to the wrong lead--a BAD thing), so, I tried to fake it, and ended up close to the next jump....Oh, well---back to the drawing board, this horse just LOVES to do lead changes!!!

Next, his AA owner gets on, OMG... Can we say one of the worst cases of Catatonic behavior I've ever seen (in the first round). The saint of a horse did his best to stay underneath her. As she comes out of the ring, all I could say was, "do you remember where your heels are? They shouldn't be pinned to his tail!!!!!". First round, the judge gave the horse a fourth for graciously carting this lady around, and then the second class she went in and laid down a trip!!! Blue...

THEN, they decide to torture me (and horse) more by making me show him in a 3' division because we're planning on bringing him out in the first years, and the schoolings were only 2'6". I told them I wouldn't do the US no matter what, he was getting tired. 2 nearly perfect rounds, but he hit a few in each round out of fatigue---2 3rds, but I was against all the other pros, so I was rather pleased. Next show, I'll lay down the law about amount of classes. They're new clients, and just came off the QH circuit, where they would do 12+ classes a day. 4 is more than enough for me.

I had some observations, but I'll start a new thread with those, probably tomorrow. G'night all, and goodbye thread.

or just another day. Heidi thanks for the wishes! Well, big day dawned, emails, phone calls, discordant renditions of happy birthday, florists trucks in the driveway... so far so good - however, Mr Fred had BAD NEWS about his Volvo - cracked head - very cranky - drove to Toronto - bought new Volvo (I didn't bother to ask whether I would be getting honkin' big diamond earrings this year now /infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif
so, while I waited for him to come back, I varethaned a new stall ...fun,? wow!!
we did go out to our favourite Vietnamese restaurant for dinner - followed by about a pound of Walkers Chocolates...
Heidi "AFR" lives at Peter Stoeckls in Oakville - (Breakaway and Heritage are in the same barn) you are welcome to come see him anytime - I would love to meet you and show him off! /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

A belated happy birthday to you Fred!

And an ode to our beloved thread:

Is this really it?
We've been together for so long
I watched you grow from nothing
Until you were 50 pages strong

The Canadian folks
Complaining of ice and cold
Sat huddled around their keyboards
Until many stories were told

We talked, we laughed
We posted many pics
Whoever knew we'd surpass our goal
Of reaching page 36?

And now I type a last goodbye
Working towards page 52
I'll miss you thread, when you're gone
I'll have nothing else to do

So I bid you farewell
I know you really must depart
But "Question for Canter" will always have
A special place in my heart

Fred

can't work in the garden, can't ride outside, can't get the fences painted, have to watch "CricketCam" video monitor.. we can still huddle over our warm keyboards...
but once the snow finally melts, just watch us Canadians rip off our polar fleece, our sorels, our **** toques and headbands (am I the only one with permanent hat hair?)fire up the barbeque ... am I dreaming, or did we EVER have summer... /infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

I think we need to invest another page or two raving about MissD's poem - what a great 'eulogy' MissD!

Fred, having travelled too often on the Q.E.W., as someone explained to me once, here in Toronto we have two seasons - winter and construction.

Mar. 25, 2001, 05:21 PM
Miss D!!!

I forgot to ask the question:

How does one get a catatonic AA to breathe/keep heels down/and steer, all at once??? A few glasses of wine possibly???

HAPPY BIRTHDAY FRED!!! please tell me about your leggy beasts dahling, might be interested /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Doubletake> your neice is great! Very very friendly and quite well behaved, though the odd temper tantrum sneaks out now and again /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

time for me to pout now, my knee still kills! It's yellowish/pruple now and riding in my lesson yesterday was torture! Oh want to hear something neat? (well your gonna anyways) we might be related to my coach! Funny huh? Her grandparents might be realted to my grandparents /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Happy belated Birthday Fred!!
Miss D that was a lovely tribute.
It snowed all weekend where I was. Six inches worth. But the horses thought it was great fun.

Mar. 26, 2001, 07:05 AM
as soon as they see more than 3inches??? I was taking the babies out, and one particular filly, tried to lie down and roll 3X on the way out to her paddock!!! Some of the senior horses allowed me to undo the lead before they flopped down and made equine-snow-angels. One in particular, dropped before I even got the gate closed, and I had to wait til he was done before I could close it.

Happy birthday, Fred. You probably don't remember, but we met briefly years ago at Twinholm when Fred was there. I had taken someone up to look at my mare(Twinholm was leasing her and the lease was up), who was there as well. As I remember they quite liked him and he was very gentlemanly about all the attention.

Goodbye dear thread.

Tin, I have an absolutely gorgeous, huge, beautiful (love her) 2 year old AFR filly, and 2 huge, beautiful Holsteiner 2 yr olds out of AFR sisters. They are all stunning, immense movers, natural jumpers (all have jumped out of 5ft 4 board paddocks) and at least one of them has to be sold (preferably one of the Holsteiners... I'm just a little too old and a little too small for these girls)..I also have 2 AFR yearling fillies, (looking more like hairy yaks or yettis right now than horses) and am waiting for 2 more foals to be born. It's a full house!

Her name was Clay(big boned chestnut with white star, stipe, snip, white hind, darker splotch on her back, dam of Hugh, DB's horse. They had leased her to breed and then hadn't bothered. She had a terrible case of mud fever at that point.

Ah, greetings my fellow "mature" riders!

I bid you greetings from your neighbors to the south... way south, where I can't help but point out it was 87degrees today, and my arena is once again dusty, but I digress...

Politics and war do indeed make strange bedfellows, or at least strange BB fellowships! /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif We cannot allow the juniors to overthrow the status quo of the BB. Whatever shall we do? I can't bear the thought that the Muzak melody I'm hearing will be replaced by Britney Spears, or that each sentence I utter will be peppered with the words "like", "you know", and "I'm all....". /infopop/emoticons/icon_redface.gif /infopop/emoticons/icon_redface.gif /infopop/emoticons/icon_redface.gif

I would rather, like, ride an ugly donkey given to me as a cheap b-day present (instead of that lovely horse -- who do you think you are? /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif ) than like, eat tofu for more than one meal. Do you want me to like starve to death. Actually I had it once where it was really good. It was some sort of tofu pudding/jello and it was so good. And another time where it was Caramel tofu. Yummmmm!!

I hereby sentence you to a lifetime of eating penguin salad any way I wish to prepare it. Yep that include licked by the pup after he's indulged in his favorite horsie poo treat.
